FD's wedding thread

So inspired by the thread by peanutttu that was recently bumped, and needing a place to gush about my wedding, I'm starting my own thread here!

Our date has been set for December 15 - so we just passed the 6 month mark! Crazy!

I'm not going to post a picture of my dress here because the link doesn't work anymore... but if you want to see it, I have a picture saved on my laptop (not of me in it, but whatever), so PM me!

Here are my bridesmaids' dresses:

That dress looks just lovely for a Christmastime wedding! I'd love to see what your dress looks like!

polarpi 06-23-2007 08:56 PM

Me too! Me too!! :)

I'll PM you so it's easier ;)

We are saving a TON on decorations because the church will already have poinsettias, pine garland, tiny white Christmas lights, and ribbon. The reception hall has pretty much the same, with the addition of some Christmas trees covered in white lights. We have to spend exactly $0 on decorations and flowers for decorating purposes! :)

(dress pictures PMed to both of you)

LOL - I have said for the past 10 years that if I ever marry again, it will definitely be at Christmastime, for exactly that reason!

My church charges a flat $1,000 fee for the use of the church, the pastor, a wedding coordinator (!), musician, pew bows, and the reception hall (with linens & utensils). I don't think it gets much better than that!

I wanna see, I wanna see, I wanna see :D

I love the bridesmaid dresses, they are beautiful.

great bm dress!!! who is the designer? That's one dress your maids can certainly wear again! Great choice!

Veil/headdress.
Showers/Girls Night Out
And most importantly, stocking up on Valium!

Very good, FD - I swear you're one of the most organized brides I've seen! :)

My diamond sister's wedding, we were still figuring out the "girls night out" and wedding party night out the week OF the wedding! :D

Score one for the organized bride!

I am definitely looking forward to seeing the pictures from this wedding - everyone assumes that when I get married, I'll also go for a winter wedding (but I don't know, that may be too much with work and all :p)

Yay for sharing the fun stuff!

Have you gotten your wedding cake topper yet? My friend's daughter is getting married, and we've been looking online. One of the neatest things I've seen is monogram cake toppers! Some people use one large initial, others use three. They can go from blingy and expensive to inexpensive. Some are gold or silver, others color cordinated to go w/ the rest of the wedding colors. I'm too lazy to post a picture, but if you've haven't seen these, a quick google or Ebay search will show you.

If you have chosen your cake topper-what did you choose?

We're doing the monogrammed cake toppers! I've been scotting ebay for awhile but they are so overpriced. I hear rumors that sometimes you can find them in your local grocery store for super cheap (not the rhinestone ones just the plain silver ones) but I havent seen any out here.

If you happen to see any in your area let me know!

We're getting red roses to put on the cake to match what the girls are carrying. Now that you mention cake toppers (which I don't think either of us had thought of before!), maybe we'll just put a bunch of the roses at the top... Otherwise, the monogram ones sound the most simple, yet elegant, which is kind of our idea for the whole thing.

That's what I did - had a mini-bouquet at the top. The cake decorator made a small "flower pot" for the top of the cake.

HB - have you tried the Better Homes and Gardens website? I saw some gorgeous wedding cakes there, and a few had monogrammed cake toppers. The site brags about how to cut the costs on weddings.

Ok, all done! Everything went PERFECTLY! We just got to sit back and enjoy the day and not worry about anything -- which was the best way to do it. I wouldn't have changed a thing.

If I had pictures, I'd post one. I don't, other than the few random blurry ones people have posted on facebook. I should be getting a cd of pictures from one of my friends any day now...

Congratulations! When you get some photos, please share a few with us!

Congrats! Cant wait to see pictures!

We still have so much planning left, it seems it will never end! We just took our engagement pictures last week and I am practically stalking my photographer's blog to see if she's posted any previews!
