John, how's Africa?
John G., any updates or latest news on your travels to Africa? I know you get limited internet time, but let us know you're still alive.

Cold and rainy
It is wintertime in Capetown. Lots of rain & clouds. But yesterday was a tourist day. It involved a bus ride around the cape and out to the most southwest point of Africa. The southernmost is about 60 miles from there. Lots of sun and kinda warm but certainly NOT a summer day.
Classes have started and I need to stay on top of that game. As the only practitioner in the crowd I stand out and my answers have to be RIGHT every time. More later |
Wow, has to be impressive being there.
G Z, Always good to talk with you! |
Current conditions
First, I'm a little bit behind in reading. I find that for every hour in class I need to spend two hours in prep. Thus, midway through the summer, I have 3.5 hours of class per day and thus ned to spend 7 hours in prep. Ouch.
Lots of rain, send galoshes - quickly. South Africa is an amazing place and the progress that they have made - and the post-apartheid bloodshed that they have avoided is something that South Africans should be justly proud of. But there is tremendous poverty and unemployment of 30% Yes, that's right, thirty percent. Conditions must get better, and do so quickly, if terrible trouble is to be avoided. Looking forward to Memphis. |
Wow, and thought South Africa was a bright spot of the continent. Must not be?
Wish I could be in Memphis and meet My Brothers! In ZAX, |
