probably does turn out better if you cut the tissue paper circles with scrapbooking scissors with a pinking edge.

for philanthropy night, we made these carnations (except we just looped the pipe cleaners to make the stems) and decorated vases. it was quick, easy, and allowed us to talk to the PNMs while they were working.
