Sigma Nu Pledge pin

OK guys I know I am thread crashing but I had to see if anyone has the answer to this question. I recently came across a Sigma Nu pledge pin and it did not have the normal vintage screwback or the newer style of a push pin, instead it had the clasp type back. I have seen many pledge pins offered, but never have I seen one quite like this, I was wondering if anyone could possibly date it, or inform me if it was a rare specimen. I tried contacting the Sigma Nu HQ about it because my usual informant on fraternal jewelry really didnt have a solid answer either. If anyone can provide me with some insight to this pledge pin I would greatly appreciate it.

I got my pledge pin in '99. It looked exactly like that. Sorry -- it's not much of an artifact :)

My pin was like that too... I think they went to T-bars completely.

Ok thanks, the only reason I was asking is because there was as period where LXA was supposedly going to use the t-clasp, but it never got produced, and this was sometime in the 40s after the merger, we instead went straight from the screw back to the push pin and I was wondering if any other GLO had a similar history. Thanks guys for the input I really do appreciate it.

Interfraternally,

yeah I had one of those pins too...

why do you collect greek pins and badges of other houses? I'd feel awkward handling stuff that wasn't my own.

Thats what mine looked like, in fall '06. It was a pain to pin on.

But it did make it alot harder for the sorority girls to steal them off your jacket. I don't know if y'all did this, but on our campus if a girl took your pin, your whole pledge class had to come sing to their house to get it back. It was a good way to meet chicks.

We just had to do whatever the girl wanted to get to it back...also if she just touched our pins they'd have to kiss us. Sort of a campus tradition here though....with all the fraternities

Kyle, I only made it to Sentinel. Please take it easy on the scripture. My pledge pin also had a traditional clasp. Our Pledge pins are wicked. Feel sorry for the Theta Chi's. They're constantly told, by the actives that their pins are upside down. I still have my pledge pin and i love it. "not that I would ever wear it". Zeta Kappa 550

Yeah, I pledged Spring '06, and mine looks identical to that pin. Mine's framed with my certificate of membership, and a black and gold ribbon.
