Recruitment Books - Have you read them?

Here are 10 books that I've found particularly helpful as a professional fraternity recruiter. The first two are fraternity/sorority recruitment specific, the others offer principles, skills, and techniques that I found transferable to year-round, values-based recruitment. I'd be very interested in hearing from others about books that helped you develop your recruitment style or helped advance your recruitment efforts.

1. "I Heart Recruitment: The Eight Steps to Limitless Possiblity for Sororities" (Coffey & Gendron, 2007)

2. "Good Guys: The Eight Steps to Limitless Possiblity for Fraternity Recruitment" (Mattson & Orendi, 2006)

3. "How to Win Friends and Influence People" (Carnegie)

4. "Never Eat Alone" (Ferrazzi)

5. "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" (Covey)

6. "100 Ways to Motivate Yourself/Others" (Chandler)

7. "Purple Cow" (Godin)

8. "Tipping Point" (Gladwell)

9. "The Fine Art of Small Talk" (Fine)

10. "Networking Survival Guide" (Darling)

There's a great quote by Charlie "Tremendous" Jones that says, "You'll be the same person in 5 years that you are today with 2 exceptions: The people that you associate with and the books that you read."

Those aren't the first books written about recruitment. Do a search.

Clarification

Perhaps I should have been more clear. I apologize. The first published books on fraternity/sorority recruitment are listed as #1 & #2 on the list I shared. To my knowledge, there have been no universal books published on Greek recruitment prior to their release. The others are books that I have found helpful as a professional fraternity recruiter.

This would be a great forum for others to recommend books that have impacted their recruitment styles or helped their overall recruitment efforts.

The Tipping Point is about when trends become "viral." I don't think it has anything that could be applied to Greek recruitment.

Oh, and these books are older than the ones you're pushing:

Ready For Rush: The Must-Have Manual for Sorority Rushees

Rush: A Girl's Guide to Sorority Success

As I stated in another post, we really don't like stealth marketing here, and we are smart enough to pick up on it. So don't.

Lazarus by Rashid Darden will not only get you into a sorority, but it will quite literally make you attractive to the opposite or same sex, whichever rubs your rhubarb.

33girl, you did a disservice by not posting the accompanying photos of these books' covers!

 at that picture.

I can just see some book like that making the difference in, say, an SEC recruitment. Yeah, right! It'll get you into your #1 group!

Suddenly, I feel really, really old.
Do YOU remember Stiff Stuff???? Lord have mercy . . .

We found a copy in a closet in the house and had great fun reading it out loud during work week lunches one year! There's a great section on how you won't get a bid if you don't wear makeup, if I remember correctly.
