what is it with girls?
Okay...girls what is up? Why is it that when you see one of your friends dancing with a guy, it is your immediate reaction to walk across the room and pull them away from us. Is this really neccasary? I mean, there are more girls than guys, so some can be left out. Yeah it sucks being left out, but you can double up. I mean, aaahhhhhhggggggggggg shoot yo. Why can't you let us hook up!?!?

depends on the situation billy. my friends are sure to walk up and drag me away, or try to, if they think i've had too much to drink, or if they think i'm going to make some rash, stupid choice. Now that rash, stupid choice may be in their opinion and i've, for one, certainly been known to tell them to butt out. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
also, sometimes we all pact together before we go out to look out for one another and all... if you like the girl you're dancing with, follow her and her friend and strike up a conversation, get her # and see her away from her friends. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif you guys are equally hard to figure out for us girls, you know. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif Amy [This message has been edited by amycat412 (edited March 04, 2001).] |

When you got girls together it's probably safe to say that they're pretty tight, therefore they look out for each other. I just think that that's friend instinct. If a girl needs rescuing her girls will come and get her...but if she wants to hook up, then she'll say something to let them know to lay off. I know that's what I'd do. |
Thanks for the advice. The situation was that she was from out of town, so maybe thats why. She wasn't even facing their direction. Had her head on my shoulder and everything. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif oh well there is always next week. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

if she was from out of town that is most likely the reason why.
especially if her friends wanted to go--we'd never leave one of our friends alone in a strange environment. go girl power! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif just be sweet and nice billy, it gets us everytime. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif oohteeny... notice how we're the only ones on late tonight? must be the time zone thing...much earlier in CA and Hawaii than the rest of the country!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |

Boys-
Here is a little tip for y'all. If you're at a club and you spot a girl on the dance floor who really sparks your interest, DON'T walk up to her and start grinding on her. Talk to her, don't grind. I HATE when guys do this. I'll be out at a club trying to have a good time with my friends when all the sudden I have a slobbering, sweaty idiot against me. It gives me that all-around disgusting feeling. This is why girls will drag their friends away. A few jerks out there who make a bad name for guys in general. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif |
Yeah, what is it with girls? I am always shocked at how weak some of my female friends become when they get into a relationship. With a lot of them, I wonder if we would have become such close friends if they had been in relationships, 'cause I've been dropped to the curb a few times. Then, we have the friends w/ psycho boyfriends who leave death threats on your answering machine (it happened last semester), and the friend doesn't really care. I've since dropped her to the curb.
But back to the topic. I know I've had to break my friends away from sketchy guys who I KNOW are "walking petri dishes" for STD's and/or general shadiness (ie, at-home or at-school girlfriends, druggies, etc.). And then, some friends are just co-dependent and don't want you to hook up if it looks like they're not going to that night. Yeah, I'm being cynical and whiny. If you want to join me, feel free. |
My sorority sisters have a distress signal to use. It's AWESOME and I'm so glad it's there! We'll all go out dancing and then every now and then a guy just grinds on you or just grabs ya and forces you to dance with him http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif it's times like that, that the signal comes in handy!
And of course sometimes I'm caught in a situation where I'm too nice to turn down dancing with a guy because I feel bad. Or when we start dancing and then suddenly I feel uncomfortable. I ALWAYS use the signal for those times! Thank GOD for sisters! Thats cool, but I don't think I look sketchy. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Well maybe. Some one said I looked like I could be a hit man http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif I can send my picture out if anyone wants it. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif

its not even about looking sketchy, its about the approach and the timing of it too. as some of the other ladies here have noted, it can just be so....eeeewwwwww...
well i was out dancing last wednesday night with some friends and IN THE COAT CHECK line some guy comes up and starts pulling on my ponytail and hanging on me and grinding against my back--I mean what is that? Is that supposed to make me go oh baby let's go find a dark corner now? My very obviously gay friend had to rescue me and my friends has to surround me for awhile cause this guy just wasn't getting it. He was pulling my hair so hard I was having a hard time not clocking the guy. So Billy, not to imply that what any of us have written is how you behaved, its simply the way guys in general treat us that gives all guys a bad name and makes all friends overprotective. |

Billy,
You're probably a VERY sweet guy and any girl would be thrilled to have you as a "dancing partner"! So chin up and take the advice of amycat. If the chic was from out of town, that's probably why she was pulled away! Just keep trying...but don't be pushy! Women hate pushy! Hootie,
Thanks for the words of encourgement. I don't think I was pushy. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
Billy, I am sure it was cause she was from out of town and her girls were just being protective. But based on all we all told you here, you know WHY our girls are so protective! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
