Police unravel shooting story
Two men affiliated with Morgan had another man wound them to avoid fraternity ritual, officers say

Two men whom police identified as Morgan State University students had a third student shoot them in the legs this week as a ploy to avoid a fraternity initiation process, authorities said yesterday.

The injured students -- who have been released from Good Samaritan Hospital -- initially told detectives that they were victims of a gas station robbery, said Detective Sgt. Greg Robinson.

No arrests have been made in the continuing investigation, though police say all three students might face charges including handgun violations, reckless endangerment and making a false statement to police. The student accused of being the shooter also may face more serious charges, police say.

Once again....

Posting entire articles is a violation of copyright laws and GreekChat Terms of Service.

However, posting a link to the source and an excerpt of the article is acceptable.

Please check the link to read the entire story.

I beleive there is a lot more than the OP listed here.

Ergo, TOS was covered.

This is SO random and bizarre to me .... The guy wasn't really enrolled in the school, they made up a story, and there's no summer initiations... HUH? I want to hear more of this developing story and what the truth is.

Kevin 05-21-2007 12:43 AM

I think the above complies with the TOS. As OTW said, an excerpt will do. Only an excerpt was posted.

I of course reserve the right to trim, delete, or otherwise fiddle with anything anyone posts which I think may violate a copyright. See paragraph 3 of the guidelines for this forum.

Kevin, the original post contained the entire two page article. That's why I posted what I did. It's obvious the OP edited his post so that only an excerpt remained and that's what you see above. I wouldn't have replied to this thread if the OP left the excerpt to begin with.

Hooray for you that you're putting your moderating powers to use, but I figured that John's rules regarding the posting of articles supersedes everything else.

If you think the forum rules differ in a significant way from what John posted, feel completely free to discuss that with me in PM, or if you don't think that'll be much use, feel free to contact John.

Otherwise, please feel free to report whatever posts you think run afoul of the TOS.

In your PM, you mentioned that you were "okay with the OP's post." It was my understanding that you were okay with posting full articles despite the copyright stuff. I was not aware that the OP had since edited his post to comply with the excerpt rule, and I'm assuming that this was what you referenced.

Neither was I. I never saw his original post.

If he had posted a full article and I had seen it, I probably would have edited it.

Folks

I got an idea...rather than handle this on the boards and show that the right and the left hand disagree over what's to be done....let's try this:

Go to pm

also...if a person unintentially breaks a rule....rather than put them out on blast...SEND a PM....

we're a ll grown here and it's really simple

Kevin...thank you for taking that first step.

OneBadZeta02 05-21-2007 09:52 AM

lol at above comment with the puppy laughing...:D...that's cute!

This whole situation is RETARDED! It's not that serious, all they had to do was tell the fraternity they were no longer interested in joining. They couldn't have forced them to go through the rituals.

KAPital PHINUst 05-21-2007 02:12 PM

There was no disagreement between the left and right hands. One mod saw your post before the edit, the other afterwards. They both agreed that the entire article should not have been posted.

And you were not put on blast. Initially you were in violation of the TOS and OTW pointed that out rather nicely in a a way that also educated other newbies about the rule.
