I am participating in the Nielsen TV ratings for a week during sweeps this month.

Anyone else?

I filled out the booklets once before about 10 years ago. They send one booklet for each TV you have in your house and you record what is watched during the appointed time. My week begins this Thursday and runs through the following Wednesday.

They send five, crisp, one dollar bills for a "thank you." (Ten years ago it was only one dollar!)

No but I did do the Arbitron radio ratings a few months ago. I think I got $5 as well. I felt bad because I hardly ever listen to the radio; I have XM. It was still fun participating in the ratings though.

We are too! Starting this Thursday.

We were called once -- but, for obvious reasons (most of you know I'm a TV director), we can't participate.

My mother was picked, too! I've already threatened her life if she doesn't give ER the highest of ratings! It's just too bad that My Name Is Earl is over for the season - it's too funny!

One of my new favorites this season is Brothers and Sisters on Sunday nights.

Great cast and good humor for a dramatic show.

Here's a question - what if you are a switcher? Like, when a playoff basketball game is on during one of my shows, I watch the show and switch to the bball game during commercials so my hubby can get updates while he does the dishes (jealous, ladies?! ;) ). We have 2 TVs so normally he'd watch on the other, but not when he's on Dish Duty!

my family has been a permanant Nielson family for over 12 years. we wear pager like devices everywhere that track what we listen to on the radio and watch on tv, and we also have to scan every single item purchased. clothes, groceries, medicines, EVERYTHING!! it is a royal pain in the a** after you've bought $150 in groceries, because you have to enter the prices, number purchased, etc.

we started out as a tv viewing family once a year and loved it, and somehow ended up doing this. we have to transmit all our info over the phone and you earn points towards prizes (and not little dinky prizes either...we got one of those gi-normous coleman gas grills last year!)

I think you write down if you watch something for at least 15 minutes, so a few switches here & there would not be recorded.

I always wanted to be one too... even if it's only for $5. I'd make sure ER gets the highest ratings!!;)
