ridiculous......!

Is that what Cirque performers do on their days off?

James 05-12-2007 03:19 AM

Amazing, they are using a girl as a jump rope.

Drolefille 05-12-2007 03:38 AM

I strained some muscles just watching.

Also, it's interesting to see how much larger the women on bottom are in comparison to the small girls on top. But still bending like crazy.

AlexMack 05-12-2007 11:08 AM

Okay that is one of the coolest things I've seen. I used to be able to bend like that.

When does one realize they have that kind of abillity?

It's moreso years and years and years and blood and sweat and tears of practice starting from a VERY young age.

That was very impressive...but for what it's worth, the music is from Cirque du Soleil's "Allegria" show.

What, do they do backbends in the womb? :D I'd be in ICU if I tried that.

This stuff is great. It's been around for years. When I was active in the gymnastics community, I used to watch it. International Gymnast magazine used to cover some meets but I stopped my subscription some years ago so I dont know if if they still do. It's too bad the sport doesnt get the TV coverage like artistic does.
I'll say alot of these gymnasts could put the top cheerleaders to shame! :)

I too used to miss my subscription for a couple of months but after that I forgot all about it. The other thing also was that the turnover in the sport was going on and I was getting older and the gymnasts were getting younger. All of my faves had started moving out of the sport. The only gymnastics I'll watch is college because they are actually women not little girls.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the kids are great but WOMENS gymnastics should consist of women (18 and up) and not pre-pubesant (sp?) little girls who alter their diets and menstrual cycles (I coached) to stay as tiny as possible. (On the competitive world-level)

NP, I'm a big gymnastics fan and have heard and read various accounts through the years about the destructiveness of the sport due to the extreme diets and body issues in both men's and women's gymnastics. In your opinion, how much of this is true, and how much of it is media sensationalism?
