Blackballed??

I have a question... I'm really intersted in ZphiB and I have an interview coming up soon. My excitment got the best of me and I told a few close friends about my interview and my interest in Zphi. If it gets back that I opened my big mouth:eek: about my interest, is it possible for me to get blackballed or that I won't get voted for??

Ask the Zetas in the Zeta Phi Beta forum.

Are blackball systems even still in place? The last time I saw it done was in Beverly Hills, 90210.

I've seen blacklists on the NPHC sites before. Usually they're perps or people who've done something completely unacceptable for membership but have shopped around for chapters where they're unknown.

I know at least one fraternity guy who said they use a blackball system for voting, but really all that meant was that one negative vote dropped a pledge. I don't think they actually used the white/black balls (didn't ask though). He's my age so he just graduated... theoretically.

We don't call them blacklists and they are not the same as the blackball.

Well, you just posted it on a message board that quite a few Zetas are on, so you must not be that concerned about people knowing.

Don't you think it's a tad presumptuous to have a username with the sorortiy name in it and you're not a member? I think so.

I posted this message because It's anonymous. And as for my username, I'm not saying that I am a Zeta, its just an aspiration, so I don't see why it'd be a problem. Thanks for your feedback anyway though.

No it's not.

You should never ASSume that you're anonymous on GreekChat.

If someone wanted to find out who you are, they could.

It's not well thought of on this board to display your aspiration in a nondiscreet manner. You're concerned about getting into trouble for opening your big mouth? How do you think people here will respond if you appear to be continuing your bad habits.

It's your own funeral, but consider this a polite warning because you'll likely get some not-so-polite ones.

The internet is not as anonymous as people think. You mentioned in your first post that you interviewed with Zeta. I'm sure any well connected member of the sorority could somehow find out which school you are at, and subsequently who you are.

Wannabezphibee 05-10-2007 07:11 PM

You're right, I guess that they could find out who I am, but going back to my original question, do you think that the fact that my interest is not a secret will have a negative effect on me becoming a member?

We can't answer this question because we are not Zeta Phi Betas nor D9 members. We're just warning you that you'll get a better reception for your question if you change your username.

I know someone blackballed in the early 80's from SPE. It was def. the right choice! LOL:D

Wannabe....I'm not sure why you'd want to join a group that would blackball you for expressing interest. If they would, find another group. If your display of interest was really bragging that you would get voted in no matter what...use some common sense next time.

There's a difference in the way NPC and NPHC groups are run. In NPHC groups you don't make your interest public, it's considered improper.

NPC sororities and NPHC sororities conduct membership intake in very different ways.

Please don't offer that sort of advice if you're not aware of proper NPHC protocol.
