http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif Does anybody know to put in contacts. I can get the right one but not the left. It keeps almost going in but then not.

Wow...I couldn't even begin to tell you how to do contacts...it seems like second nature to me now, after 4 years. It took a LOT of practice, and now I can get them in like no one's business. Hang in there!

I agree it's like 2nd nature now since it has been a few years, but what AlphaChiGirl said about practice is what's up. The more you do it, the easier it will become.

Ok, I sat and thought about this for a minute, lol-

Put the contact on the tip of your index finger of one hand and hold your eye open with the other hand. Roll your eyes slightly back in your head. Put the contact on your eyes and unroll your eyes. That's how I do it anyway, and it works for me http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Go with what ZetaAce says. If you look at the contact coming towards your eye, you'll blink and it won't go in. Once you finally put it in, close your eyes and squeeze the shut until you can no longer feel the lens. It takes a lot of practice. For two months, I would get up an extra 30 minutes early just so that I'd have time to put them in. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Before I got LASIK I wore contacts for 6 years. The way I did it was hold my eye wide open w/ one hand, and have the contact on the opposite index finger. I then stared in the mirror and basically "snuck" the contact onto my eye. Make sure your looking and the mirror and not your finger!!!

Hi Billy!!

what kind of contacts do you have? RGPS/hard/soft?? I have RGPS and they are a pain in the butt for me--I am very, deftly scared of ANYTHING entering my eyes...very bad, i know http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I've had my RGPS for more than a year and still, sometimes i can get so scared and i blink all the time when i'm trying to get it in! So here's some encouragement: don't every give up! Because with practice you'lol get better and better. Sometimes I can put in my contacts in 3 minutes! With RGPs, all you have to do is look straight at the mirror, do NOT blink, and just keep your eyes open.

It's actually really easy, it's just i'm a scaredy-cat http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Write back adn tell me if you have RGPs or not, maybe i can help you more http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Good luck!

Thank you everyone!! I've had them for over a month and am still trying.

Billy Optimist 02-12-2001 01:34 AM

Hi Sammie-
I don't what RGPS are. They are disposable. They are soft, and sometimes will be inside out adn fall out even after i manage to get them in. When I can get them in.

Billyoptimist,

I just recently got contacts too, and have problems putting them in...
Here is what I have noticed helps:
Before putting in your contacts, add a drop or two of either wetting drops or solution. (solution burns my eyes so I use the wetting drops). When they touch your eyes, the water actually helps them to smooth out onto the eye, helps it slide into place, and is alot let tramatic to the eye.

When I first started putting in my contacts it would take me about an hour, and then my eyes would be all beat-up (red and swollen)... I eventually had one of my roommates show me the trick. It really works.

Good luck. Like most have posted; it DOES get easier with time.

Faced with the Divine, I was asked; "What one gift do you seek?"
I answered ever so meekly; "I seek Honor, Truth, Integrity, and Wisdom, yet those are four. How am I to choose?"
The answer came as a pounding whisper; "The four you seek are but one. I grant thee Compassion; for without it the four make none."

for the left, make sure it is a bit moistened with some of the saline stuff. Try to keep the lens open, tuck it into the lower lid and then try to squish it (gently) against your eyeball. Blink around a few times. Use a mirror (definitley). I have had contacts for 10 years and I still need a mirror!

Sorry to say, but you have to practice, practice, practice.
Hang in there...you'll get it!!!
