Zeta Phi Beta members charged with hazing

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Three sorority members at Southeast Missouri State University face charges for hazing a student by forcing her to eat garbage, hitting her and spraying something in her face, authorities said.

The women, members of Zeta Phi Beta sorority, were charged with third-degree assault and hazing, both misdemeanors.

I'll never understand hazing....how does eating garbage make you closer to your sisters?

How awful.

Humiliation, intimidation & fear of not crossing 4 whatever reason are the factors of this continuing cycle.....

and the funny thing is, that after(when and if she crosses) this will be another story that will be shared at their chapter, regional & national confrences...and it will have become another sad "story" to add to the countless others.

but, the bright side is that she didnt DIE.....

Interesting to me that they did not find out due to the victim coming forward, but because Nationals alerted the school. This is the first I've ever heard of that.

Not unusual in the NPHC world. Chapter advisors are usually the first contact, then the regional director who usually does an investigation and disciplines the chapter. Part of the disciplinary action is notifying the school of such action.

Sorry, but I would have not been that desperate! Honestly, that is just not worth it and why would you want to be sisters with someone who has hurt you? That just does not make sense to me! Also, when people do that kind of stuff it means that they are usually treating more than just their pledges that way.

We are on the same page with that thought, but LGs response makes sense.

Interesting. I have never put Jeff City in the same category as the Lou and KC. In fact, I'm not sure that those two even belong together. :D

ionno yo...i'm usually very skeptical when i hear reports like this. True story, we know that Z Phi B pledges, but eating garbage & sprayin something in their face??? ehhhhh, ionno bout that. hittin them...thats kinda vague. i mean, we know that pledges be in the cut and all other types of physical shit, its just to what extent is where the line is drawn...and yo, this reportin shit to nationals ONLY is bullshit...cuz if you gonna do that, you might as well halla @ the university officials also. and my other thing...was she a solo??? cuz if she wasnt, why didnt her LS's protect her, or corroborate her story? ionno yo, too many questions on this.

i love my sorors to death...but if they did in fact do this, then they do deserve to be suspended...but if not, then that chick should never be made a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

MAD DOVE LOVE SORORS!!!
Blue Phi!!!

These allegations might not be true but that's not because they sound outlandish. I've heard of worse things happening to pledges.

You and this "we know" stuff. ;) The line should technically be drawn before there is anything physical. So if the "we hit them but not THAT hard" line of reasoning is what you're going for, it's not gonna work.

The regional, district, and national bodies find out before the universities do like 90% of the time.

Well JC isnt as bad as the STL or KC but they have their fair share of trouble as do any large or small city. JonInKC just made it seem as the Bootheel area was bad. I grew up in Sikeston which is 30 minutes from Cape where SEMO is located. We had our lil share of mishaps but when we start getting alot o people fromthe big Cities moving there our crime rates when up more than normal.
