Southeastern Michiganders: Have you met Brandon Inge's Dad?
I knew the first time he came into the restaurant and I heard him telling stories, that it wasn't true. Well, at first I was like "Wow, Brandon Inge's dad is here" but then I realized it was a delusional old man. I feel soooo bad for this guy because he just seems lonely. I had heard a snippet on the news one day about him getting arrested.
Today at the restaurant I overhear an older man talking. I look to my co-worker and say "Nah that can't be him. He got arrested for impersonating him" and then we hear "Yeah my son is Brandon Inge" and we both look at each other and laugh. It's not funny, but it is. Telling the stories seems to make him happy, and it doesn't bother the customers. Most of them get that he is not really the father. I googled this and saw that it isn't just our restaurant where he tells his stories, it's ALL OVER. Here's a link. http://detroittigertales.blogspot.co...gers-beat.html |
That's hilarious! I haven't run into him... yet. I'm going to start looking for him though. Most of those posts said they saw him in the city where I live and at places I go to all the time!

That's just bizarre.
When he was playing here for the Mud Hens, we didn't get any Brandon Inge's dad impersonators down here. ;):) I'll keep an eye out when I'm visiting the rest of my family in Michigan though... (Speaking of the Mud Hens...went to the game tonight. I love baseball season - even if you don't care about the game itself, just the fresh air and people watching are enjoyable.) |

Sometimes I miss that part of the country. Probably not enought to move back, though. |

Mmm beer brats. I had my first one at a Michigan tailgate. Yeah you don't wana move back here. Jobs are scarce, the weather gets weirder and weirder, and there's nothing to do here unless you wana trek up to Traverse City or Mackinac. |
Channel 2 Problem Solvers will be doing a special on him tonight at 10pm. I feel bad. This guy really has a mental sickness and they are going to exploit him on TV. I'm going to watch because I'm curious what they will say. He's really harmless, but he does disrupt our customers. I wish someone could just get him help.

I just met this guy! He's now saying that he's Justin Verlander's father. I was at ACO Hardware getting keys made (my son lost his) and he was having a key made also. He said he was leaving for Sidney, Australia tonight and that his son, Justin Verlander "You know, he pitches for the Tigers, do you like the Tigers?" was paying for the whole trip. The cashiers all gave each other knowing glances, so they clearly knew him and they were teasing him about how bad the Tigers did last season. He said "Sure, everybody says that now and then they'll be asking me for tickets in a few months". Seems like a harmless old guy, driving the white Cadillac still! I couldn't wait to get home to post it. I knew that Justin was from Virginia and that his parents still live there and this couldn't possibly be his dad. I found a bulletin board that said he's been claiming to be Justin's dad since around the time of that Fox2 newscast.
I ate at the restaurant last night, PM_Mama. That's where my daughter picked to go for her birthday dinner because she wanted cannoli! |

Aw! That makes me excited! Happy Birthday to her also. What did you order? Do you remember who your server was? |
I had lasagna this time. I think it's my favorite, closely rivaled by the meat ravioli and the gnochhi. The kids both had spaghetti and meatballs. The ex had chicken cacciatore. We had a guy server... I want to say Jason or Justin or one of the J names. My son had the chocolate dessert and he let me have a bite.. OMG that is rich! I don't know how he ate the whole thing!
