Advice on Throwing a My Tie
Hey!
I'm planning a My Tie datenight for my sorority in the fall and I am still tryign to figure out exactly how it works. We will have about 200 girls in the fall total. So far I've been told that in order to ensure it happens the way that it should and that it flows smoothly I should 1. Get a list of potential dates and their phone numbers from every sister who plans to attend 2. Call the potential dates, invite one at a time, once I've found a date I should collect a tie from him and let him know that he has been invited but not say who invited him 3. At the date night the girls will be identified by the dates from the ties they are wearing. Does anyone have an experience throwing this datenight, what are some common problems you've run into while doing it and is there a better way to go about it? Thanks so much, I really appreaciate it.:) |
It's been a while since you posted, but if you still need help...
My sorority had a my-tie a hudred years ago(well, not THAT long). We had each sister pay their $10 fee in advance. Everyone who paid had their name put in a hat. The organizer had the list of those attending organized by who paid frst, second, etc. They became the "is a finding a date for..." and then she pulled names out of the hat. First name pulled became the sister that the 1st name on the list had to find a date for. They were required to get the tie - all ties collcted by organizer up to 3 days before event. Luckily she did not get stuck with dateless sisters! Then she handed the ties out at the meeting place before we all went over to the party. It worked perfectly! |
Make sure you have PLENTY of time to do this. It takes a lot longer than you would think...

We did the date thing awhile ago. I found that some of the guys don't show bc they don't know who invited them. If you want to do a mytie a great way to do it is pair up with a frat, know how many girls are going, tell the frat social chair so he can round up the ties. Go over there a few days in advance to get the ties (that way the guys HAVE to show up to get them back) then when the guys come over to serinad they pair up with who is wearing their tie. If you do the whole matching people of for dates have plenty of time and a big bottle of asprin. It is hard to get the guys to come, and then girls fell disappointed or left out of their date doesnt show
