websites and recruitment
-

I personally am not a fan of ASA's website. It looks like it hasn't been updated since 1987, and some of the pics on there look about that old as well. I've seen individual chapter pages that are much more impressive than our national site.

I think when the internet was "new" a website made a much bigger impression - however, when the average rushee has grown up with all that, I can't imagine choosing a group based on what their website is like.

Overall, I think our website is pretty solid. It needs a style update though, which is scheduled start at Convention 2007!
Every group doesn't have the most dazzling website, which is why I caution people about making impressions based on websites (local or chapter). |

Honestly, I think the majority of PNMs still choose a sorority the way they always have - by the girls they meet during recruitment. NPC PNMs, anyway.

So, did you "click with" or "click on"?
Just wondered because it looks like you "clicked with" Chi Omega and Delta Delta Delta but Chi O and Tri Delt gave you "chills". (Chills can be good and bad.) ETA: Never mind, I re-read the post. |
It would be NICE if the national website was sharp, but my big concern is that the individual chapter's website is up to snuff.
My chapter rarely updates, but thank God they did this year. They actually had a picture from a "Pimps n Hos" party on one of the earlier versions, along with a picture clearly taken after a ritual showing girls in skin-tight midriff-baring slinky tops and very short white skirts (well, I guess they WERE white.....) The photos on this year's version show much better judgment. I'm so old that we didn't have a website when I was rushing, but I'm sure the prospective new members use the sites to help them remember where they were, who they spoke to, and which houses they liked or disliked, so I don't understand why the chapters don't keep their website updated and as attractive as possible. |
