Transfering Universities
 

I am part of a local sorority at my current University, but I am considering transferring to a different University within the next couple of years, because my GLO is local and doesn't have any other chapters would it be possible to go through NPC recruitment at the new University without for-going my membership to my local or would i have to dissaffiliate with my local in order to join the npc sorority?

Unless your local has rules about you having to disaffiliate in order to rush again, you would be able to rush.

i was just worried that NPC would have a rule against that (i know they have a similar one for npc sororities)

There's a girl who just initiated at my chapter who transferred to our university. She was in a local back at her old school, but in order for her to pledge and initiate with us, she had to de-affiliate from her local. It was really hard for her, but she's still really close to her old chapter and goes back and visits them all the time (as far as I can tell), and she's really happy in our chapter.

But, with different locals and nationals, the rules may vary. That's just the way it worked in this particular case.

There is no NPC rule, but nobody can say for sure that an individual chapter wouldn't "hold it against you," for some reason, I suppose. I'm sure there are chapters out there that might care. My guess is most probably wouldn't care.

Since you said that you were going through recruitment in a few years from now at a new university, the standard recruitment warnings (your class standing/age) might still apply depending on the campus culture.
