New Member Manual

Do any NPC groups have their new member manuals on the public side of their website? Before KD's big site re-design, ours was available for anyone to view.

Thanks for your help!

(I do realize I could check out every website, but I figured I would ask here first!)

AOII's Fulfilling The Promise program is available on our public website.

The manaul itself is not, but since our new member program is BRAND new as of Fall 2006, there is an Essential Sigma FAQ site available online.

We have a "how-to" site about the way ASA Advantage works and general FAQ, but the actual manual itself isn't available.

What is open information for New Members is available at http://http://www.alphadeltapi.org/m...ionCenter.aspx.

The parts which aren't accessible are for sisters only.

Alpha Phi Omega's Pledge Manual and Pledging Standards, among other things, are available here on the public website.

(ETA: Yes I know we're not NPC but I answered before I noticed that part of the question. ;) )

Interesting, the "History Lesson" states that IC Sorosis/Pi Phi was the first "national college fraternity" and Theta was the first Greek Letter Organization for women, but no mention of ADPi.

I checked my AOII new member manual from way back when (1994), and it says the same thing. I don't know why it doesn't mention ADPi, however I think ADPi was the first "secret society" for women. So maybe the decided that if they listed every sorority that was the first something or other, it would fill the whole book. (apologies if I get any of these wrong)
Pi Phi- first national college fraternity
Theta- first GLO for women
ADPi- first secret society
GPhiB- first to be called a sorority
Phi Sig- first completely non-sectarian, non-scripture based
Kappa Kappa Gamma- first at Barnard College

Alpha Gamma Delta's New Member Manual is not on our website. (At least, not that I was able to locate, and I'm fairly well-versed in the contents of our site.)

I don't think its necessarily an effort to keep anything "secret" (as the information on our Founders, Purpose, and symbols are publicly available under different headings on our site). Its just not a manual that's out there - not even in our members only section where other types of manuals are available.

(Of course, once you get access to the Members Only section, you're already initiated and probably don't need a copy of the New Member Manual anymore. :) )

My pledge manual from 1987 doesn't mention ADPi either.

I thought most/all NPC members' manuals listed all NPC sororities. So when y'all say that AOII's "doesn't mention ADPi" do you mean at all? Or just not as the first secret society for women.

ForeverRoses 04-19-2007 10:38 AM

It doesn't mention ADPi in the history section when it talks about the first women's organizations. ADPi is listed as an NPC member.

I don't remember Advantage listing the other NPCs. Encounter might have, but that was before my time.

I have copies of both Advantage and Encounter. Encounter lists all of the other NPC's but Advantage doesn't, which is one of the reasons why I don't like it.

Advantage is more about learning about yourself, and your college/life experience (time management, relationship building, etc)...from what I've heard Encounter is more geared toward education of the pledge about the sorority history, which I think I would have enjoyed more than the touchy-feely getting in touch with yourself stuff.
