The Passing of a Poet
 

I was saddened to open the Oklahoma Daily (student newspaper at OU) to find an article mentioning the death of Gwendolyn Brooks. She was one of the first poets whose works I was introduced to - there were several poems written by her in the "reader" I used for Language class, way back in the 3rd grade. Even reading at that age, her poetry spoke to me. May she rest in peace.
