Non-college sorority?
I am Active Duty in the United States Air Force...and I was wondering if anyone knew of a policy somewhere that dictated whether or not a sorority can be started and affiliated with the military?!?! And also, I was wondering if a sorority can be started, even though it would not be related to college. Our purpose would be to better our community for volunteering, while at the same time coming together with friends. Please help.....

I thought that the military had rules about sororities/fraternities. I can't see them being thrilled with active duty members joining something like that. I know there are internal organizations (at least ROTC had elite orgs on our campus) but I don't think the military academies allow them for a reason.

Greetings and welcome to the world of Sigma Phi Psi Sorority, Inc! We are America's 1st Greek Letter Sorority established by and for United States Armed Forces Women. We are women who come from diverse cultures, unified by one common goal; success against all odds! We are women who have entered the U. S. Armed Forces for many different reasons, but in essence, our reasons are one of the same. We are women who wear many hats: mother, daughter, sister, aunt, protector. . . . and we are women who at any given moment on any given day may be called to lay down our lives for another and our country. Yes, Sigma Phi Psi Sorority, Inc. is quite unique because we are a sorority that truly defines the true meaning of "Sisterhood." |
