So who's inviting me over for easter lunch?

UGAalum94 04-06-2007 09:35 AM

Centaur, I expected you to say, "they better be serving free trade coffee."

Honeychile, yours sounds even better, especially the salad. What do violets taste like?

All I know is that I'm going to leave the cooking to others, and I'll probably go over the top on the blood of Christ.

I will also probably fill up on the dude's body, but will continue to eat anyway (this is related to the blood thing).

For the first time, I am not cooking on Easter this year! We are going to Easter Brunch at my favorite restaurant, Columbus Fish Market. They are "Featuring over 35 items including a carving station with Roasted Leg of Lamb and Smoked Ham, a Belgium Waffle Bar, Made-to-order Omelets, Cedar Planked Salmon, Chesapeake Bay Crab Cakes and more. Special fun for the kids including a Chocolate Fountain and Smoothie Bar."

Yes, I'm eating Crab Cakes and Salmon for my Easter Brunch!

Only if you blow them up in the microwave first.

I wouldn't say mine is better - easier, maybe, but not better! The violets are really just to dress it up - no taste to them, unless I have time to candy them (dip in egg white & superfine sugar).

My sil is all about the peeps - dried or microwaved.

PEEPS are made less than a mile from my house!! I always see the Peep-mobile driving around. A yellow VW bug with a PEEP high above it!!

Happy Easter!

some crap I don't eat
some more crap I don't eat
other crap I don't eat
green bean casserole
butter lamb
twice-baked potatoes
other crap I don't eat

My boyfriend's family has two pastors in it so in lieu of making a huge meal after church, they are grilling out. I think it's awesome. :)

NUBlue&Blue 04-06-2007 05:56 PM

I'm not cooking either, for the first time in years. Hubby and 3 of the kids are going to the Braves game, so oldest daughter and I are having brunch at the club.

aggieAXO 04-06-2007 06:25 PM

For those peep lovers-here is some interesting research for you:
www.peepresearch.org/surgery.html

hopefully the link will work though I am not computer savy so it may not

carnation 04-06-2007 06:49 PM

I am told that Peeps taste better after a year's storage so tomorrow I'm bringing out the ones I hid to see.:D

Otherwise--all 13 kids and son-in-law and at least 1 boyfriend will be here for our annual Easter cookout! And our twilight Easter egg hunt with glow-in-the-dark eggs! And we are going to freeze our butts off because the low Saturday night here will be in th mid-twenties. So much for global warning. And our azaleas.:(

ISUKappa 04-06-2007 07:05 PM

We're going to the ILs so it will be something like:
relish tray
deviled eggs
smoked ham
mashed potatoes
scalloped corn
freezer rolls
jello salad
some other sort of salad involving cauliflower, broccoli and mayo
Pie
Wine (including some of Uncle Walt's homemade stuff)
All the candy I'm putting in my son's basket because a 13-month-old really shouldn't have chocolate and it's my right as a parent to eat it.

Standard midwestern farm fare.
