Do you agree?

Here is an interesting argument my friend made.
"Every betrayal begun with a trust."
Do you agree?

How thought provoking.
Well, Caesar did say, "Et tu, Brute?", so I'd have to say yes.

BUT...not every trust is betrayed. My personal experience - true trust is never betrayed.

How can someone that I don't trust betray me? I have to agree with your friend.

BFulton 10-31-2000 02:58 PM

Agreed. People you don't trust can do many evil things to you, but that doesn't equal betrayal. I just checked the dictionary, and it refers to betrayal as being a traitor, the define of which includes betraying a trust (tangled webs).

So, better to never trust and that way, we never have to feel the pain of betrayal?

mgdzkm433 10-31-2000 04:57 PM

If you never trust, no you won't feel the pain of betrayal, but you will feel pain anyway if someone tried to hurt you. So, why not take the risk of trusting some people that you feel you can trust? If that person hurt you either way, you'll still feel pain. If they don't hurt you, then you'll grow a wonderful friendship. Something worth taking the risk for.

Arya, I never thought of it that way... yes, that's true.

I'd love to be able to rationally respond to this now, but seeing as my boyfriend of 3 years broke up with me last night, maybe tomorrow. How's that for trust?
