Womens Pro Football
I had heard about it maybe 6 months ago and again recently on ESPN during a debate regarding another topic. I did a search and found the official website:
http://www.womensprofootball.com/ I like the idea, weather it will fly with the rest of America has yet to be seen. Personally, I wish they had this when I was still in high school. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif What do you folks think? |
I think football is for men. Sorry. I LOVE the game and I can talk about it for days but I think that actually playing it should be left up to the guys. Is that sexist? Probably. (I'll admit I am a little bit old fashioned.)
And before people start flaming away about me saying that, I would like to say that I think women can do anything a man can do, but honestly why would we want to? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ZetaAce ------------------ A FinerWoman since 1997... |
I'm not a big sports fan, but we already have womens pro basketball. Why not football too? There are some women out there that enjoy playing the game.

I say go for it. If there are woman that want to do it. I heard there is a womans pro team coming out in St. Louis. I'm sure it would be fun to watch.

I have to agree with ZetaAce on this one. I'm not too keen about the idea either. It's just like female boxing and female hockey. I think I'm an old-fashioned kinda girl too. I just think those type of sports have too much physical contact for a woman. Not to say that we can't handle it....it's just not my bag. I really can't see the whole boxing thing. I question why men would want to just hit each other like that. So I really question women getting into that. But that's another topic altogether. I guess to each her own http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
I think having a women's football team would take football to a different level. In basketball, women teams appear to be more of a mental game and back to the fundimentals of basketball than the run-gun-n-show that the NBA has come to be. Their impact on the football world will be interesting to see. Besides, women have been playing rugby for years. Why not allow them to have pads and go head on head like the guys. If anything I would be afraid that the games would get a bit more vicsious. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif
On an aside, I took a look at the site, and I really like the logo for the Minnesota Vixsons. [This message has been edited by Artimis (edited October 22, 2000).] |
I would go to a womans pro football game just to see them knock the heck out of each other. I wouldn't mind seeing a woman's pro hockey team too. Both violent sports in there own right. I guess I like the idea of women being violent against each other because you rarely see that in the real world.

ya ever seen a catfight? Frankly, the idea of women's football scares me. In any kind of philanthropy I've ever seen involving girls and competition, they are BRUTAL. Case in point, at SU, Crow has a football philanthropy, and this past year, something like 3 girls ended up going to the hopsital because of way too rough play. There are ALWAYS fights between them, and women are just plain MEAN to each other. From a realistic standpoint, women's football wouldn't even last half the amount of time the XFL did, it's just not a woman's sport. Honestly, the thought of a woman bench pressing 350 pounds for reps and playing on the line scares the hell out of me. Not a male shovanist (sp?) viewpoint per say, just, well, realistic. |
