Getting Parents involved
Since I plan on going through rush this fall, I've been trying inform my parents on what it's all about since neither of them are too familiar with the Greek System. My mom's been very supportive because it's what I want to do =). Are there any websites you guys would reccommend that display a positive view of joining a sorority maybe aimed towards parents?I think having their understanding and support with be valuable especially during the week of rush.

Getting parents involved
Check out the sorority websites of each chapter at your school and the website for your schools greek affairs office.
All of these should have all kinda of positives to help impress your parents. When I pledged I didnt tell my parents. The only way they found out was that my mom was trying to reach me during "Pledge Week", had to spend every night at the house, and she couldnt reach me at my dorm room. Finally got me the last day of Pledge Week and freaked out. Said she thought I might have died or something and was about to call campus officials to come check my room for my dead body. :) |
lol..your poor mom..

Additionally, the national website for each NPC group most likely has parent resources. (I know that my own particular organization does, and I'm fairly confident that the other groups do too.) Feel free to check all of them out for ideas to use in discussion with your parents - even if a particular NPC organization doesn't have a chapter on your campus, you might still get good parent information from their website that could be applied in a general sense. :) (And, of course, if you have particular groups on your campus that interest you, check their websites too.) Here is a listing for the national websites for all NPC groups (from the NPC website): http://www.npcwomen.org/about/an_members.php Good luck! |
