Question
Can one of my lovely sisters please explain the commotion over in the Greek life forum about us and Sigma Nu. It absolutely boggles my mind. I thought it was a simple explanation that we call them our "brother fraternity" because of all the help rendered to us at the time of our founding and nationalization and because they're just so darn special. :) But I know that the relationship only extends as far as our gratitude and not to any sort of mandatory joint events or ties. It's just amazing to see it get blown so out of proportion.

I hear ya ... that's why I posted the link to the latest issue of "The Quill". I though that might help explain.
I do find it ironic that all the commotion about us is under a file entitled Tri-Sigma ;-) |
Just goes to show that some people *cough cough* don't know when to mind their own darn business. WHat does it matter to them if we have a relationship, regardless of it's officiality (if thats even a word)?

I love being an Alpha Xi! Thank you for the smiles.

Any relationship with a fraternity can jeopardize our single sex status. |
Wah wah wah.
Two of the sisters posting in there, are new members. The rest of us know that it's unofficial, but that we love them anyway. Don't you have anything better to do than crash other people's boards when all you want is attention? Mind your own business. Single sex status is not an issue. You just want attention because the almight 33girl is ALLLLLLWAYS right. Get real, sweetheart. |

Believe me, when any of my sisters said something on here regarding our sorority that could have been misinterpreted or was flat out wrong, I corrected them promptly, and if I wasn't sure of the answer, I searched for it. |

That's the same reason why NPCs frown on fraternity little sisters. The primary reason that little sister orgs were put to rest had to do with court challenges of the "single sex" status of fraternities and sororities. We have to be cautious to maintain certain requirements to ensure that we can continue to exist as single sex organizations and those groups violated the requirements. I can see why the same would apply to not having official "brother fraternities" and that's why no NPC has an official relationship (excluding the historical ones) with one. |

Thats a direct quote from our new member manual and correct so there was no need to say anything else. |
I can see this thread could quickly get out of hand, so I'm locking it.
