Alpha Chi Pi

I looked around but didn't find a thread about this. Anyone seen this yet?

http://www.alphachipi.com/

I'm a bit disturbed by their "sponsor"...

But, overall, it's kinda cute.

Lol o wow. I love competing in pageants, but I don't think I would ever join a sorority that was all about pageants!

texas*princess 03-20-2007 11:52 PM

that's.... special!

Their membership benefits include:

Quote:

Alpha Chi Pi Member Certificate

Alpha Chi Pi Pledge/Sorority Pin

A stylish Alpha Chi Pi sports shirt

An Alpha Chi Pi Tote Bag with embroidered logo

Access to Members Only Alpha Chi Pi Message Board and Email Group
where you can download photos and post messages to other members

A quarterly e-letter where members are Contributing Authors

Your name, photo and most recent title (queen or director) on the Sorority Composite page of our website and in our annual membership directory

Exclusive ability to purchase new Alpha Chi Pi shirts, jewelry, and other novelty items at our online store at www.Royal-Icing.Com .

Of those, the only useful benefit is the opportunity to apply for scholarships.... and you can apply for scholarships in a regular sorority, or even if you are not Greek at all.

super fun but not worth the $125 fee imho!!! :p

It's called a sorority, but I think it fits better under society or honorary. The benefits and stuff remind me more of those type of groups.

I'm sorry, but a lot of these "pageants" are businesses (especially for children. I'm not talking about Miss USA/Miss America and their qualifying pageants). This isn't a real sorority. It's just another pageant dressed up to look like a sorority. Looks like the owners of the Royal Icing jewelry business want to expand into pageants and decided to name it Alpha Chi Pi.

Click on "members" and take a look at the charter members. Some of those girls look all of 5 or 6 years old.

Interesting marketing ploy to get more business for their company....

amanda6035 03-21-2007 09:19 AM

"Queen's Sorority for World Peace"

Damn, I couldnt help but think of Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality when I read that.

Somebody give me a yarf bag.

Their webmaster needs to learn how to spell....

My favorite part? The "Alpha Ki Pi"

AlexMack 03-21-2007 09:31 AM

I like that even though it says Alpha Chi Pi on the website, the top of the page says Alpha Ki Pi.

EDIT: Wow, beaten like a redheaded stepchild.

ForeverRoses 03-21-2007 09:53 AM

I was really impressed by the fact that while half of the links still read "under construction" (such as the mission statement), the online store seems to be up and running quite well.

on a side note, while several of my friends enjoyed entering pagents, it was never anything I did. But there was one pagent I always wished I had entered- New Straightsville Ohio has a Moonshine Festival. I thought it would be great to be the Moonshine Queen.
Imagine-
"Hi, I'm Jen the Apple Queen"
- response
"Oh yeah, Well I'm the Moonshine Queen!"
Moonshine queen wins every time!

OleMissGlitter 03-21-2007 10:02 AM

Oh my gosh...I think someone needs a reality check...that is just awful!

SigmaKappaRoyal 03-21-2007 10:10 AM

"Alpha Ki Pi".. hahahaha...

What a kooky idea. I have to say tho, my "family" in our chapter was the Royal Family, so if I were still an active I would be all about the princess and crown jewelery. *ducks and hides* ;)

AlphaFrog 03-21-2007 10:11 AM

There is something wrong when it takes 5 girls to do their "hand sign".:p

Oh, and the fact that it's just a huge marketing scam is pretty wrong too.
