Quick/Easy Philanthropy Ideas?
Hey girls! I'm Internal philanthropy chair and I'd like to do a philanthropy that takes one day and is pretty inexpensive and easy, but will raise a good amount of profits. The year is almost over so we want to squeeze one in but don't have too much time left. We have Casino Night in the Fall which is our main event so it will just be an extra way to raise money for Camp Fire USA. If anyone has any ideas please let me know! I'm new at this so I would greatly appreciate some help!

I don't know if anyone on here is from Chapman U. in California, but they used to do Camp Gamma Phi (or something like that) that was a big all-school campout under the stars. They picked an open field on campus and held it there. I don't know what the logistics were, but I always heard it was really popular.
My chapter did/does Boot Camp, which is an afternoon of games like tug o' war, obstacle courses and relays, capture the flag, etc. that the greeks on campus all come out for. Each team pays an entry fee, and we get donations or prizes from local businesses. Gamma Phi Foundation matches whatever funds the chapter raises. It doesn't raise a TON of money, but it's still a successful event and if you have a big greek system, it could probably do really well. |
We always did Moonball, which was a volleyball tournament. It was done in the dark, on our campus' outdoor sand courts, with a glow in the dark volleyball. I think they have moved it indoors now though. :o
We also held "Mr. Moonlight" in the same weekend. It was a beauty contest for the frat boys... IN DRAG. So much fun!! |

I don't think Chapman Gamma Phi's do the Boot Camp thing anymore, but I can find out (my friend is Greek Advisor there and she's a GPhiB). If they still do, I'll see if I can get the details. I always wanted my chapter to do that event, but they never went for it. |
