Delta Zeta/Eastern Star----debate????
 

Sorry to crash on you all but i have a debate going on with a friend of mine .... you see we both belong to the Order of the Eastern Star (masonic group) and are both in different sororities...Over lunch one day we were discussing sorority histories and i told her i once heard that DZ was once an off shoot of OES and she doesn't agree. When i say offshoot they were in some way related to one another MANY MANY MANY years ago in the very beginning. So before i get shot out of the water on this and have to pay for lunch next time can someone please inform me if this is true or not.

I wish I could tell you something, but this is the first of I've even heard of it.

I don't have my history book in front of me, but you may be thinking of one of the sororities that DZ absorbed early on. I can't remember the name of it, but one of those sororities did start out as being for women who were also members of OES. When that sorority decided to join NPC, they had to drop the OES affiliation, so by the time DZ absorbed it, the affiliation was no more.

Wish I could remember the name of that group...I think there's a thread somewhere on here about the different groups that have merged with DZ over the years, and it may be discussed in more detail there...
