I feel kinda stupid asking this, but here it goes. I gave this guy my number a couple days ago, but I have no idea what to talk to him about. I really don't know him that well yet and I think that's my problem because I usually go out with guys who I've been friends with forever and then I don't have problems with the conversation. I'm a little shy until I get to know someone, so does anyone have any tips on what to talk about?

Brittany,

This really should be posted to the ChitChat forum.

Thanks,

Poor Brittany...

Seven years later and her question never got a response except that it was in the wrong forum. How will she ever know what to talk to her guy friend about?

/sheer boredom

She could have gotten a response, but there's no way to tell.

A lot of posts got lost during the summer/early Fall of 2001 when John did a massive site/server upgrade. This was back when GreekChat was still puke green and filled with lots of lightbulbs. If I recall correctly, the outage lasted a whole week (maybe longer?) and when it came back, GreekChat was purple. Sometimes when "old" threads get bumped up, I notice that the OP wasn't really the OP of that thread. Don't ask me how I remember. I just do. The "Every Sorority Girl's Necessities" thread comes to mind. I also remember that lots of people's post counts went down. That's how we knew that some of our posts got lost.

So whether or not this person got a response...I guess we'll never know.

I think when the OP gets deleted (I guess maybe the Mod was trying to delete the whole thread, but deleted just the first post instead) the next person who posted becomes the "OP".

At least, that's what I think happened here, because I surely didn't start this thread.

When I was a mod, deleting the first post would mean deleting the entire thread completely. Maybe things have changed with the new admin features, but I remember having to edit OPs instead of deleting them...?

I think if a person was banned and their posts removed, is when this happened.

A lot of those old accounts from way back look like that. There even used to be users classified as "guest."

I guess we didn't have spammers in 2000 :)

It's possible that one of those different types of users just didn't have a corresponding user type in this newer software so the account shows as deleted.

Brittany did nothing wrong except post in the wrong forum and have a very unfortunate problem with a guy calling her and her not having any clearly planned subjects for discussion.

Now that she's probably in her late 20's, I'm sure we can all hope she was able to acquire those skills without our help on Greekchat.

Or maybe she had to join a convent?

she is a hermit living in milwaulkee with 27 cats.

Weren't Guests eventually eliminated because of "those who shall not be named"?

Beats me. I didn't register 'til '02. I don't believe being a "guest" was available at that time. Those who shall not be named were either recently gone or just about to be gone when I started here.

I unfortunately missed that entire episode.

What is this about? I understand that you're probably not going to want to talk about it since they "shall not be named" and all but it gets me all excited a la Voldemort in HP. There is so much innuendo on this site that goes way over my head and I'm always so curious about all of it! :)

SoCalGirl 07-20-2007 09:14 PM

Lord Voldemort is probably a distant cousin of those who shall not be named. But at least I can type Voldemort with out a bunch of **** popping up. :)
