WOMEN: COSMETIC ADVICE
 

I hope some of you girls can relate to my dilemma: I've lost my favorite pair of tweezers.

I hate buying tweezers because it seems they're always too thick and not sharp enough to do the job.

I've lost my only wonderful pair I've found moving.

Now, my eyebrows are getting a little out of hand.

Does anyone have a particular brand they will vouch for? I am getting desperate here, but I don't want to waste my money!!

have you been to walmart? anyway, i get mine waxed but back in the day the girl that did mine used the ones with the pointed (kind of slantd) ends and that seemed to work well enough.

girl, just let 'em grow. hey, you can smooth them back if they're getting in the way of your vision. it's fun to be natural! so liberating . . .

I like Trim's. You can get 'em at Walmart or Kmart or Walgreens. They're slanted and are the best ones I've ever used!

tweezerman makes a good pair of tweezers, but if you want to get a REALLY good kind that'll last you forever and is really precise, go to sephora.com *or the sephora store if you have one near you* and get a set of tweezers either from stila or the sephora brand. they'll be a bit expensive, but are completely worth every cent. i have a pair and love mine.

here's a tip for tweezing so it doesn't hurt as much. three, actually. 1. rub your eyebrow area with lotion first to get some moisture in your pores and open them up a bit. 2. put ambesol over your eyebrows to numb the area so you won't feel it at all. and my personal favorite, which i employ every three days: 3. get a fog-proof mirror and tweeze in the shower. that way, your pores are loose, your eyebrows are slick and moist, so it'll be very easy to tweeze with precision and very little pain. hope this helps!

Thanks for the tips. I'll check out the Trim's brand. Are they very sharp though? I can't get precision without sharp edges.

etienneSAI, Thanks for the painless tweezing tips. But, I've never really had a problem with pain. I am so uncompassionate when people complain about it hurting, cause it just doesn't hurt me at all. Maybe I've been doing it too long and just am numb to it.

lancome has some GREAT tweezers. they're around $30 and sharp. i love mine! get those and a high magnification mirror, and your good to go :)

I use just generic wal-mart tweezers... Actually I think they're Revlon or summin like that. I haven't been extremely pleased with their performance lately, I might get a new pair. Oh and I don't like slant tip for tweezin' brows AT ALL. I like the pointy kind!

I had some revlon pointy edged tweezers that could do anything. They were sorta bronze colored w/ silver tips. I think I got them at Target. I'm such a fanatic about my eyebrows, so I don't know what I'd do if I lost my tweezers. Wait, yeah I do...go buy another pair.

To add to Etienne's advice...take a hot cloth and put it over your forehead for 5-10 minutes (a hot shower will do the same) and then pluck. It makes things so much easier w/o that weird numb feeling from numbing cream.

The best way to lessen the pain of tweezing is to drink a beer or two beforehand. No more than that though, or you will be called Whoopi II. :)

Oh, and run an ice cube over your brows.

I use "Oooh la lift!" by BeneFit for reducing undereye circles and it's also great for soothing puffy brows.

I'd probably poke my eye out or something.
