The Friend Zone . . encyclopaedia entry

http://encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php/Friend_Zone

The friend zone is one of the oldest and most common traps that women set up to trick gullible losers into an eternity of mental enslavement.
Entry is much longer. Funny stuff.

That article is a load of bovine excrement.

I only consider a guy to be only for friends if and only if he is lacking a major requirement that I absolutely need for someone to be in a relationship with me. For example, if his religion (or lack of it) is WAY too different than mine. Or if he is too old. Or if his physique is too different from my tastes. Or if he is too much of a wild guy who engages in too many risky things. Stuff like that. In fact, I lost interest in somebody recently who otherwise was fine mainly because his personality was too reactive and explosive.

I like nice guys. There is a difference between being kind and being wimpy. Between being courteous and being a pushover doormat.

Um...did you actually read it? It's a joke. JOKE. Do you take everything literally?

Scandia 03-06-2007 07:45 AM

I know it is a joke. But there are A LOT of misconceptions being spread around about why women send guys to the friend zone. Misconceptions that certainly do not apply to ME.

sdsuchelle 03-06-2007 07:47 AM

HAHAHA. Unfortunately... I have definitely pulled that stunt with a few guys. Not purposefully, though.

AlphaFrog 03-06-2007 09:00 AM

Why is it that the people who have the least amount of experience in relationships are the first ones to reply to threads in this forum?

The fact that it was an article on encyclopedia dramatica should have tipped a person off that this is not an authoritative source. I'm sure your latest date did not look up this article and go 'oh, that's why we're just friends.'
Jesus

Dimitri Martin once said that bumper stickers were pretty awesome, because no matter what they say, it was like a little sign that said, "Hey, we're probably not going to hang out."

All of your D&R posts are, in essence, bumper stickers.

I just have to say that as a female, I am ALWAYS constantly finding myself in "The Friend Zone." I was recntly told by a guy that knew I had feelings for him for quite some time that "I was a great friend" In a situation that had nothing to do with "us". He just threw it out there.

Fellas you are not alone! Females get put there too!

James, kudos to you for using the British spelling of "encyclopaedia." I feel smarter when I read it when it's spelled that way.

jumping in to say that i've been in friend zone with boy for 3 years. i dont think that's changing anytime soon and ive accepted that.

i think that's half the battle - if you KNOW youre in the FZ and its not going anywhere past that, accept that ish and move on. still be friends if you want, but move on. cause youre not passing go or collecting $200 with them.

Not with that attitude! Remember, whether you think you can or you can't, you're right.

Turn that frown upside down!
