Eating Right

ok, there is no other way to say this...(i'm a lazy a*$)anyway, i can't exercise b/c it is just so boring to me. every time i try to do that, it only lasts for a week or two at the most. anyway, i am trying to eat healthier instaed and hopefully that will work. i've been eating peaches, bananas, carrot sticks, and cucumbers lately(ya know the basic fruits and veggies.)Rice cakes have also become one of my main staple foods. any other ideas on low fat stuff i could try? i'm desperate here so if anything has worked for you in the past,i would love to know what it was. thanks and i'll keep you posted on my progress in case it can help someone else on this board.

I hate to diet and exercise too!!! But anyway, high protein is awesome if you're trying to lose weight!

As I am reading your article, I am finishing off a pint of Ben and Jerry's, lol. Id say that eating from the food groups in moderation is the best way to stay fit. No need to diet excessively.

Make sure you eat at least 5 fruits and vegetables a day. Drink as much water as you can and don't forget the protein and calcium.

Multivitamins are also a good idea. I order mine through my doctor. He says that they are better than the OTC stuff.

As for exercise you need to work out to the point of sweating everyday.

It's pretty much a proven fact that diet alone or excercise alone don't produce weight loss results - you need to combine them! But healthy eating never hurt anyone - and I'm sure it will only help! Try to get in some excercise - even if it's just walking to and from class, always taking the stairs instead of elevators, and lifting free weights if you have them!

When it comes to food choices - like someone says - moderation is key!! Usually, you can eay anything as long as you eat a single portion and not more! It also depends on the type of body you have and how you process food. For example, carbs and I don't get along - if I eat too many I gain weight. People always think fruit is super healthy (and it is - compared to a hot fudge sundae;)) but fruits have natural sugars in them and as we all know sugars = carbs. So try not to eat too many fruits - but veggies are fair game! Limit bread/pasta/potatoes to just 3 servings a day. Avoid pop (or soda or "coke" as wierd people in the south like to call it :p) and fruit juice - again, lots of carbs! Drink water drink water drink water!! It helps fill you up so youre not as hungry and keeps you hydrated which is so important!

I totally recommend reading Body for Life, the diet is a good one to follow, but I don't do the excercise routine b/c I like my own much better! Good luck :)

Don't forget about metabolism. I can't remember the last time I have veggies or exercised, I think it was Memorial Day, I'm like 97. If I walk 10 feet I'll lose weight. :(
