cheap mixersss

i'm in a local sorority (and the school i go to only has like, 3% greek life, & we don't have greek houses, which sucks). anyone have any ideas for mixers that are cheaper, can be thrown in basements, & are still fun?

we've done white trash bash, office ho's & ceo's, eat me lei me, mix but don't match, toga...you know, the basic's. i need some new ideas though!

Pajama Jam.
doesn't get much cheaper then that. Put on your PJ's, and go.

Stoplight.

Wear red if you're taken, green if you're available and yellow if you're somewhere inbetween.

80's Theme

Anything but pants...(girls usually wear skirts, guys usually show up in a towel with boxers under it)

$5 Prom (go to good-will or salvation army and get whatever you can for $5 to put together a prom outfit)...never did one while I was active, but my friends have and they said it was super fun!

there's also the "graffity" or "blacklight" mixer...

everyone wears a white shirt and brings markers or highlighters and you write on each others' shirts.

cops and robbers party, ugly sweater party, rock and roll party (crazy makeup).

how about camoflauge or a cowboy theme?

Go roller skating or midnight bowling-- it's pretty cheap and it's fun.

80s prom is a fun option too.
Black and white parties are a good standby. And I have heard of sororities having "Pink" socials (I guess everyone just wears pink but there may be more to it than that, heh) but I don't know if that was a mixer with a fraternity or just a sorority party. It just seems like there may be some guy out there somewhere in the world who would still refuse to wear pink.

I know how you feel...not having a house and having a very small Panhel community. We had two fraternities and my poor lonely sorority (fabulously we were the "youngest" organization as both of the fraternities chartered before we did and therefore we were literally the little sisters of the bunch and often treated as such)

We had a place on campus called the Underground which had pool tables and ping pong tables. They usually closed at 3 on Fridays so we'd sometimes get the people in charge to open it up for us. Then we'd get a few cases of soda, some chips and dips, maybe a veggie tray and that was a mixer once a month or so. SUPER cheap and extremely easy as we were all pretty well connected around campus (it's easy to be connected on a campus with 4500 students).

Also we occasionally would reserve the upstairs loft area of a local pizza place. Everyone who wanted to eat would pitch in $5 or whatever and we'd get three or four XL pizzas. Now that I think of it, we did a lot of eating and talking.

Every semester during Greek Week we'd play Capture the Flag. It's a lot of fun although not necessarily the best way to share your innermost thoughts.

I'll keep thinking.

*dress to impress
*ABC (anything but clothes-garbage bags, saran wrap, towels, table cloths, etc)
*Sports Illustrated social (wear sports related clothes)

The all time best that we ever had was "Dress as your favorite Brother." You could honor your favorite brother or lampoon one. It was fairly cheap, easy, sorority guests also participated, and it was fun trying to figure out some of them.
