Shoe repair questions

Has anyone used one of the online places for shoe repair? If so, which ones were good?

Also, more a question for the southern guys, has anyone gotten a pair of sperry's resoled? I was gonna get another pair of gold cups, but I've heard that some cobblers will resole boat shoes. I like that idea because my current ones are pretty comfortable. Thanks.

We have a great boot and shoe repair place back home that I usually talk all of my stuff to.

..........and yeah, I have had a pair of sperrys resoled, they looked brand new.

I've never gone online - go to a local cobbler, they're usually cheaper and also faster. I've gotten a lot of shoes resoled in the past.

Isn't the whole point of Sperry's to wear them until they literally fall off your feet and not get them fixed? Or is that a northern thing?

I had mine rixed when the sole was pretty much falling off the shoe. I see what you are saying.

Yeah, my dad uses a cobbler downtown, my only problem is that I'm a little busy this semester and I don't really trust anyone in Athens. I can probably just hold off until summer.

About the sperry's, mine are really worn out, I'm only on my third pair (ever). However, I really like the gold cup ones but unfortunately they look a little too new when you first buy them. Plus they have that memory foam footbed and they're extremely comfortable now that I've broken them in. I've just never gotten anything with rubber soles resoled before, so I wasn't sure how common that was.

Yeah, they did a good job. I'm like you though, I only trust my shoe place back home. They told me it wasn't much of a problem at all. Just had to match up the color, size, thickness, etc.

mail them back home and have mom or dad take them in for you.

for those who don't know, topsiders can get really slick once the tread is worn down on the sole-sort of like slipping on a banana peel!!

Yeah I might do that, but I guess I'm not in too big a rush. Thankfully these have vibram soles, so they haven't gotten as slick as the traditional topsiders.
