Unchartered Fraternities

This is a little simular to my earlier question, but I am looking for info on former (inter)national chapters that have continued operating after their charter was withdrawn. I am somewhat familar with Slippery rock, and APES at Emory, Nu Society at Vandy. I know there used to be a former SAE chapter at Florida State called "the Lion's Club", but I'm not sure if they are the new SAE chapter there or not. Anybody aware of any others?

The Phi Delta Theta chapter that was at Sewanee is now the Phi Society, but I don't think they lost their charter, I think they gave it back.

The DU Chapter at Harvard relinqushed it's charter in 2005 and now operates as "The Oak Club" which is a local club .

At GW, we have three unrecognized groups:

Sigma Alpha Epsilon - still recognized by their IHQ
Sigma Alpha Mu - still recognized by their IHQ
Alpha Pi Epsilon - used to be AEPi and have no national affiliation at all

Our Greek Advisor is being very smart and is working to get SAE and SAM recognized again and bring them back into the fold.

As for APEs, there isn't much that can be done.

AU

At American in DC we have two unchartered fraternities that remained organized and are probably not going to get their charters back. One is a former SAM chapter that changed its greek letters to Sigma Omega Alpha. The other chapter is EI or Epsilon Iota...

Oak Club

Harvard simply is not hospitable to international affiliation The local club influence is strong The alumni of the local DU Final Club seem to be affilating with the Oak Club as well. The Oak Club seem to be using a punch system instead of open rush and trying to operate like a Harvard Final Club in all respects

What is a final club?

Final Club

Final Clubs operate independently from GLO'S, membership is by invitation only no rush, Final Clubs crowded most greeks out of Harvard in the 1920's.The Porcellin Club at Harvard 1791 predates any fraternity except Phi Beta Beta founded 1776.

They don't seem to be operating quite like the finals clubs, as they have members from the sophomore class on their website.

The Nu Society is based off Sigma Nu, right? We are rechartering there.

Also "Sigma Nu Chi" at SUNY Geneso used to be Sigma Nu....
