Collegiate Leadership

Greetings,

It's been a minute since I've had the time to post, but I monitor the boards often and am glad to see that everyone seems to be doing well.

I have a question for all. Does your organization have leadership possitions reserved for collegiates on a district, regional, and/or national level? If so what (in general) do they do? If not, why not, and has it ever come up as an option?

I can only speak for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. when I say that we have leadership positions that are available to collegiate students.

Delta Tau Delta has "The Undergraduate Council" which meets with the Delt Arch Chapter and has as much input to running the fraternity.

Members are chosen from the undergraduate chapters.

In answer to your question, any member (collegiate or graduate) of Alpha Sigma Kappa - Women in Technical Studies may serve on our National Board of Directors, or may hold office in their Chapter (Active or Alumnae) - however, a member may not serve in two different offices simultaneously.

We, Kappa Sigma, have something called the Undergraduate Advisory Council (UAC).

These men get elected from each district to represent the undergraduate opinion.

Realistically, since I have seen our alumni officers lobbying for the people they want and suggesting strongly to chapter officers to vote a certain a way(for UAC members), as well as the fact that these members are not usually privy to the behind the scenes meetings, dinners, and drinks it is difficult to say how much genuine input they have.

However, they are in a position to present the most common undergraduate issues. A feedback wall if you will.

Hope this might help.

Gina_lynn---I'm sorry I don't know anything about your topic, but I'm replying because MY name is Gina Lynn also and I have barely met any other Gina's, much less another Gina Lynn! Sorry, I was just very excited and felt like sharing that with you!

Alpha Kappa Alpha also has leadership positions reserved for undergraduate members who make decisions as part of our national Directorate. These members are elected just like their graduate counterparts. Undergraduates are also appointed to committees of the body by the national president.
