Anyone use a point system for attendance?
We are trying to start up a point system for attendance this year in our chapter. It was used years ago, but some how fell through the cracks.
There are mandatory events, however when people miss there are ways to make up these points by doing other things that will some how give back to the house in a positve way. Does anyone else use this sort of system? |
Alpha Lambda (Georgia Southern) does. It used to be posted on their website, but it looks like the University webiste has been redone and I can't find the new link to the Alpha Lambda page.

Ashley, your chapter might want to refer to the Officer Resource Library for suggestions. Also, ask your advisers to check with your CNS for suggestions on putting together a points system that will work for your chapter. Good luck!

My chapter used a team approach. We had I,O, T, and A teams. For social events, usually 2 teams were required to attend. If you couldn't attend, you had to find a sub from one of the other teams. I guess this only would work for social events, not really for meetings and such.

Yes I've heard of chapters doing the A-O-II approach. It works well with events that always take place like campus speakers, philanthropies for other greek orgs., and things like that. That way the same people aren't going to represent the chapter and you don't burn them out. You just need to have someone in charge of them who can make sure to tell each group in a timely manner when an event is taking place.
Points work too but I bet there are some examples out there on MyCommunities or post it on InCircle! |
We have Panda Points. Every member starts off with 100 points and if you miss a meeting, initiation, sisterhood etc. you lose a certain amount of points. In order to go to socials and formal, you have to have the required number of points. You can earn points by doing extra activities, I think. It works well for us, our chapter relations chair is in charge of all of it.

at Towson we use 2 systems. First, we use the AO and PI groups. Girls are split up among the two groups. Then, each event is put into categories (socials, mandatory events, etc). Groups alternate turns to attend each event.
If a girl can not attend the event, she must find a replacement. Even if your group is not the designated group to attend, all sisters are welcome to attend! Also, points are determined for each event we have. We call them PI POINTS! some are worth more than others. Girls score points for each event attended and must have a total of 80% or more to attend formal and/or crush party at the end of the semester. |

we do the same thing at our school, if you loose certain number of points you cant go to any fun events. to regain your points back you have to go to non mandatory events |
