I'm looking for a specific kind of handbag, and I'm having a hard time finding what I have in mind. I need something with a wide bottom to fit my monstrous planner/wallet into, and I want something with LONG shoulder strap - like as long as a beach bag. The closest thing I've found so far is this(see blow) but I'm afraid the shoulder straps arent long enough.

I think I need a messenger bag type thing - except I dont like the fold over flap that messenger bags have. It doesnt necessarily have to be one that has greek letters on it, though I do think I'd like to have the opportunity to have them embroidered in the corner or something. Most briefcase type bags have too much "junk" going on with them - too many pockets and stuff like that. I just need a plane, wide bag, with long straps and not many (if any) pockets.

Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?

If you just need a casual bag (not for work), try the LL Bean Boat and Totes. They're cheap, durable, and you can customize which straps you want, if you want a zip top or open top, etc. You can also get it monogrammed. Vera Bradley has a lot of big bags too, but I understand those bags aren't everyone's thing...

Thanks! I will defintiely check it out...

Yeah. I dont think I'm girly girl enough for vera Bradley. Two of my sisters have them, and if I even attempt to hold one, just to be cute, I look like a moron.

That LL Bean thing is EXACTLY what I was looking for. And it fits more in my college student budget right now. maybe in a few months, when i hopefully have a professional job, I can re-evaluate the Kate Spade - because I really like that one.

Browse TJ Maxx or Ross, Marshalls, etc., You can usually find a variety of bags there from various known designers. I got a Liz Claiborne handbag that actually doubles as a laptop bag for me. Ok, so it is large enough to have its own orbit, but it was only $30 and I get tons of compliments on it.
