Home Suede Cleaning
I recently inherited a suede skirt from a friend and I got a small stain on it (food). Every dry cleaner in town wants $30+ to clean it... any home cleaning tips or am I stuck? I guess since I didn't buy the skirt myself, it won't kill me. It just sounds like a lot of $$$ to pay for cleaning (that and my friend who originally bought the skirt for herself got it on clearance for $25!).
Thanks for any homemade tips! |
From http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...ng_suede.html:
"Small stains on suede can be easily removed by erasing them with a clean soft pencil eraser. An emery board or fine-grade sandpaper can also be used to remove minor stains and dirt on suede. Gently and carefully rub the dirt or stains, and they should come right off. Another very old and effective way to remove stains on suede involves stale bread. Simply remove the crust from a piece of bread and allow the bread to become stale and somewhat hard. Gently and carefully rub the dirt and stains with the edge of the stale bread, and the dirt and stains should disappear like magic." Hope that helps! |
