Random computer tip

Someone showed me this trick and it has helped SO much. My laptop was damn near unusable it was locked up so much, task manager running at 100%, etc. I was so annoyed I was at the point of just reformatting the hard drive and starting over. If you have poor pc performance and you have a lot of programs running, try this.

Click the Start tab.
Click Run...
Type msconfig and hit Go or enter.
Select the startup tab.

This will show you everything that will initialize once your pc boots up. In my case I had about twelve different things running that I didn't really need starting when I turned on my computer. If you don't know what some of the applications are you can google it and decide whether it's something you want starting automatically or not. You can still start the programs even if they're not configured to automatically start upon turning the computer on. I might also add that Norton Antivirus did not like my computer, and since I uninstalled it it runs great.

If you don't know computers well be REALLY careful about anything else you do in msconfig. But that tip is excellent.

LOL. My first thought when I saw the title of the thread! I've gone Mac and I'll NEVER go back. Not willingly, anyways. :)

Gah, I hate macs. Probably just because I know PCs so well, but also because I like computer games too much :)
