Congress to work a "five day" week...
What a concept.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/01/...rss_topstories In reality, though, I think it's important for elected officials to spend some time in their districts -- and some would argue that they spend a lot of time doing speaches, etc. as part of their jobs. However, I do think there is a lot of time that they could be working, and aren't. Check the number of roll call votes that your Senator or Representative attends and the number of trips he/she takes. It varies widely. |
It's an interesting issue.
I like the idea of elected official from Georgia living primarily in Georgia, but it's hard to say that shorter weeks in Washington translated into that. And if you figure in that the session doesn't run all year, are shorter weeks needed too? |
good that they will be back at work
bad because now who knows what they will think of to vote on |
