what's a date night?
 

what is it and what do you do in them? I am a pledge and our first date night is this week. Fraternities and sororties are so big on campus I guess no ne has bothered to tell me more about it, plus pledging hasn't started yet. I could ask a brother but I don't want to look stupid.

Can't you ask your Pledge Trainer? (Pledgemaster, Dean of Pledges, New Member Educator, whomever he is)

You're supposed to be able to ask him anything -- how else would you learn?

I would assume it's a night when you make your pledges take a date and go as a pledge class. We did something like that on sunday afternoons for awhile.

At my school date night (Friday) was when all the Greeks who were in significant relationships went out on dates with their respective boyfriend/girlfriend while all the single Greeks would hang out and do their own thing. But I’m going to guess the definition of “Date Night” varies from school to school.

We did a date night last semester. We all went to a nice restaurant with our boyfriends (and for those without boyfriends, the sisters arranged a blind date!) as a group.

We used to do Date Dashes, which are spontaneous events. We'd get a phone call from an exec member telling us that we had two or three hours to find a date and meet at a spot on campus before we left for an evening out. I'm guessing date night is similar, just planned in advance?

Yeah..we had date dashes too..where our big bro would tell us to find a date in like 3 hours...usually half the dudes couldn't get dates and had to go with the friend of somebody who could get a date...then we'd do something stupid like play miniature golf or drive go-carts drunk until the place kicked us out....date dashes were awesome.....

Fraternities with shortened pledgeships often have a break between bidding and pledging in to get extra work out of the pledges. In other they will recieve a bid then wait a couple weeks before going through the offical pledging in of the guys.
