I was just wondering if any one knows any good places to go visit in Denver. I will be going there tomorrow and don't really know that area to well. Especially around the Hyatt Regency Denver, Grand Hyatt Denver, or The Westin Tabor Center.

What kind of thing do you like? Are you looking for restaurants/bars/clubs/shopping/tourisy/outdoorsy places? Do you want stuff within walking distance of the locations you mentioned?

I would like to know mainly about bars/club/restaurants. And I would like to know about them being in walking distance.

This is probably too late, but there are a number of places in LoDo within walking distance -- ask someone at your hotel. Also, there are some more commercial places off the 16th Street Mall (which has a free shuttle) where Tabor Center is located.

Well, that's not at all accurate. First of all, they don't plow side streets here. Second of all, they don't put any crap on the street that rots your car. They just let the snow stay where it is until it melts.

If people are too wussy to deal, Florida can have them, LOL.

Oh, this is not a normal year for Denver is it?

In spite of what people think, Denver is ARID!:)

DENVER HAS LITTLE SNOW as it were, it bounces off of the Mountains. It comes to Kansas on the west plains.:) :( :mad:

I originally saw that email about 5 years ago.. referring to Michigan rather than Denver. Here, they do plow the side streets and put salt on the road. (Except this year, so far, since it's all been rain!)

51 degrees in Michigan today. January 12th. Unbelievable. My daughter's birthday is Sunday. On the day she was born, it was -14 before the windchill factor and something like -60 with windchill. I like El Nino, yes I do.

Yeah, I saw that "Winter In..." thing about Michigan when I lived in Detroit I think.

This has been an ususaul winter here. In the twenty-five years we've lived here, we've have maybe four or five 20 inch plus storms.

In many more cases, we've had 4 to 6 inches and it's been 45 degrees the day after and the sun melts all of the snow in a couple of days.

Some day I'm going to explain to the newsies that most of Colorado's snow is in the mountains -- and even more important, that Denver isn't.

We're on the edge of the great plains, where it meets the mountains. Our climate is semi-arid (high desert/long grass prairie). That's why some years we have water rationing for our lawns and why every tree in town has been planted unless it's along a creek or river bed.

Look out the airplane window when you fly into DIA. You don't see a lot of trees on the plains, and most of the green you see is due to irrigation.

DeltAlum, can relate, ran to many Ski Trips to THE Mountains.

Always new where you were by the few trees along dry creek beds between Burlington and The D!:eek:

Isn't it Rabbit Ears that goes up over to Steam Boat? Been a while since I have been there.:(

Yes on all, but Rabbit Ears isn't much of a pass compared to Berthoud -- where the recent big slide was in my opinion. To get to Winter Park/Mary Jane without going a LONG way out of the way, you have to cross Berthoud.

It's hard to remember that before the Interstate System and the Eisenhower Tunnel, U.S. 40 was the national road and everyone who was traveling that way had to cross these passes.

Real mountain driving (not on the interstate system) is pretty interesting and can be scary at times.

Yep, went over Loveland as had to get to Pheniox for a meeting. Hole in the wall was closed. Looked down on A-Basin and going Holly S**T!

Got down and tunnel was open, did make plane to Ar. Carrying Skis and golf clubs!

Never really think about slides even though I know Vail Pass gets slugged in at times.:(

People do not know what Mountains are do they with snow on them?

Been held up in East/West KS/Co with Black Ice. Thank goodness we had a bar in the back!:D

Yeah, Loveland pass on U.S. 6 (Loveland/A-Basin/Keystone bypassing the tunnel) can be pretty exciting, too.

Oh Hell yes, not driving a car that I was familiar with and kept looking down and down to where I had skied at!:o People having a ggod time and I had to a make The Old Big D airport to sunny Arizonia!

not me ... being born and bred in upstate NY where it gets like that (-14 and even worse windchills) i was SO excited to get to Nevada to go to college. yaaa.. not at all. i was just back in new york 2 weeks ago, and it was around 60 degrees... i get off the plane in vegas, seeing its 80 degrees in LA again, and im like ok this is good its gonna be up there in vegas ... YA OK .... its around 41 ... during the day. WHERE IS MY YEAR ROUND HEAT THAT IVE HAD FOR 4 YEARS :( :p

but agdee ... like i said growing up in ny's winters, congrats on all the warmth youre getting ;)
