Pref Night Songs
 

I recently became Pref Night Round Head for my chapter. We have traditionally had a girl sing a sentimental song towards the end of the round as a transition between "speeches". We used to use "The Rose" but after a few years of butchering the song we used another song last year that was worse. Basically, I am starting early on finding a new song and a girl that can really sing. Anyone know of good songs either your chapter used or even a "pop" song that we can change lyrics to that aren't too sappy and the song isn't extremely difficult. If you know of any, please pass along the lyrics and tune (if you've got it!) Thanks ladies! We had such a great rush last fall and will be initiating about 50 girls in about 3 weeks. Hope you can help me make Fall 2007 rush even better!

Well our chapter does "the rose" but we call it "What's Chi O" Its the same tune just different lyrics. If you want to try that version out, let me know I can send you the lyrics.

Me and my Big always said how we could since "Listen to your heart" by DHT (I believe)...of course you could change the verses to however you want, but the chorus would go something like this..

"Listen to your heart, Chi O's calling for you, Listen to your heart, theres nothing else you can do. [The next line could be altered] We don't know where you're going, but don't make us cry. Listen to your heart, before you tell us goodbye"

Of course this is made up from one of my sisters and myself. But anyway, thats a "pop" song you could use!

Oops, yeah. We have done "What's Chi O" but we refer to it as the rose. Last year we sang "Pass it on" and it sounded horrible. Thanks for that idea on "Listen to your heart", I will definetly add it to my list of possibilities.

Chi O Pref
 

We've been using "It Feels Like Home To Me," and "St. Elmo's Fire" for a while.

We just added a new one this semester: "Because I Knew You," from Wicked. It was easy to change the words, and has such pretty harmony.

We use a really pretty song to the tune of Garth Brooks' song The Dance. One of the seniors who just graduated :'( wrote some great lyrics to it. If you're interested I can get them from her or our current Pref Chair, just PM me!

It seems to me that you could write appropriate lyrics for "Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones.
