Spring Recruitment for Second Semester Sophomore

Hey everyone! This thread is pretty much what I've been thinking about alllll break...and I was hoping that I could get some insight from the Greek side :)

I am a sophomore transfer student. I went through Formal Recruitment this past August, and I had a BLAST during round 1. Round 2 came around and I didn't get called back to many houses at all, and I guess the hardest part was the majority of houses that I loved had released me. However, I kept trying to be optimistic and tried to block out all the tent talk that was going on. Eventually, all of the houses that I could see myself in and felt the most comfortable in had dropped me before prefs. I was so upset and disappointed that I dropped from recruitment. I then realized after talking to my Pi Chi that I had registered as a junior (credit-wise, I'm a junior, but I am only in my 2nd year of college). I didn't realize that that would be a factor that houses would consider...but now I know differently :). For the rest of the semester, I always questioned if I should have dropped - I guess, whether I would have been happy in the two houses that did choose to pref me, or what I could have done differently - putting my right class standing on my application, for one :p. Spring Recruitment is coming up soon, and I have been trying to decide whether I want to rush again. I'm not sure what my chances are, being a second-semester sophomore. Furthermore, if the other houses didn't choose me for reasons other than my class standing, I'm not sure if I would want to put myself through that rejection again.

Any suggestions? :)

As long as you keep in mind that not all houses will be holding Spring Recruitment events, you should be fine. You also need to look at going Greek as a whole, not "I'm going to be an ABC or nothing". If you go in with an open mind, you have a higher chance of having a good outcome. I would put on your recruitment app that although you have Jr. standing for credits you are actually in your 2nd year of school. If you ahve been active on campus and/or know sorority women on campus, that will help as will letters of reference. However, I would refrain from having letters of reference sent to chapter until after you start getting invitations for events.
