Silver Tiffany Jewelry Trickles Down to the Unwashed Masses

According to the college intern/sorority girl working for KillarneyRose this semester and her fellow intern/sorority girl in another department, wearing items from Tiffany & Co.'s silver line (the "return to Tiffany" pieces, the heart bracelet, the silver Elsa Peretti heart necklace, etc.) is an indisputable sign that you're poser trying too hard.

"It's to the point that the cafeteria ladies are wearing them now," said Intern #1, a junior at XXX University and a member of ABC sorority.

Small Southeastern College junior Intern #2, a member of XYZ sorority, agrees. "Seriously, nobody I know wears that stuff anymore. Everyone had (Tiffany silver jewelry) my senior year of high school, but that was a long time ago."

Both young women agreed that David Yurman pieces are acceptable, with the exception of the Panther bracelet which is, according to Intern #1, "completely overexposed."

KR, can I please throw your intern and her friend into oncoming traffic?

I love and will always love my Tiffany's jewelry even if cafeteria ladies use it too and I won't stop wearing them despite what the snobby bitches say.

LOL

There is a replica for nearly everything, including high end shampoos and conditioners, so what does one do?

That's why I've started wearing totally non-trendy stuff...I don't want to see people going around with the knock-offs!

Although...OK, I admit, I do think the "Return to Tiffany" tag necklace has had its day. Everyone in my chapter had one back in...2002. I've still got mine--duh, why get rid of such a nice piece I paid way too much for?--but I haven't had it out of my jewelry box in a long, long time.

Exactly.

Wear whatever the hell you want people. :)

Bwahahahaha. Most of my jewelry's hand-me-downs...er um, family heirlooms.

Eventually the 40s are gonna come back in style and I'm gonna have the originals, I guess? ;)

if you wear or stop wearing a piece of jewelry just because of who is or isn't also wearing it, you're just an idiot because you've wasted your money. if you buy jewelry for the right reasons (not just because you think it'll make you look cool), but because you like it, it'll never go out of style because it's your style.

fifi225 01-06-2007 07:38 PM

..I should just mention, that if you put this much effort into deciding why you will wear some pieces of jewelry and not others..you need some serious help.

Who cares if the cafeteria lady wears them!? For all you know she saved her paycheck for the last 5 years to buy one. I honestly think that making that kind of a distinction is the epitome of "unclassy".

If something is cute, if it looks nice, if you like it....just wear it. I won't stop carrying my coach bag because knockoffs exist! If something is trendy or popular it's going to get immitated.

I'm pretty sure that "an indisputable sign that you're poser trying too hard" is writing (or putting stock) in an article like that one!

And that, is my two cents.

That to me is the funniest thing of all!:)

MMM as I sit in my Tiffany bean necklace and read this.....oh well I am a Mom and I know we aren't cool!

Just to clarify, you all know that that's not a real press release, right? It's just a little tongue in cheek somethin' somethin' that stemmed from a conversation I had yesterday with two of our college interns.

I'm not sure that they're being snobby; I think it's more that they're being college-age fashion victims. "If my friends wear something, I will too. If my friends don't wear something, then I won't either.

Cases in point: anyone remember those black "sorority pants" that made 95% of the women who wore them look like they had a butt the size of a barn? Or the Doc Marten boots with a babydoll dress? (I'm showing my age with the second one, but 33Girl and alum will know what I mean :D )

How do you know about such things, Dionysus?!?!?!? You must've seen that in 90210 reruns! :D

Besides, the Tiffany Blue Boxes make it all worthwhile! ;)

I don't remember either of these. This must have been AFTER my time!:)
