White House pact cloaked visits amid scandal

Accord with Secret Service locked up records during Abramoff imbroglio:

WASHINGTON - The White House and the Secret Service quietly signed an agreement last spring in the midst of the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal declaring that records identifying visitors to the White House are not open to the public.

Funny, I thought The White House is "The People's House."

So, the people can't know who visits?

Well the good news is that with lobbyists and other guests, there are usually pictures....and thanks to the internet, we'll find out anyway.

I've heard that, too.

I Googled "The People's House" and found references to The White House, The House of Representatives, Congress and the British Parliament.

This move by the WH is just as bad as an admission of guilt. If there was nothing to hide, they wouldn't be trying to hide it. I voted for Bush twice, and would do so again considering the alternatives available at the time.

Had the Dems actually put up a decent candidate, they would have cleaned up. Unfortunately, in my eyes, neither Gore, nor Kerry were good candidates. Hillary would be a mistake as well.

It seems the Republicans have already crowned Mitt Romney.

Does anyone remember that he was the Co-President of the SLC Winter Olympics? The same committee bribed the Olympic Committee during the selection process? No way should we trust this guy.

Yes, and yes.

I'm also reminded that these logs showed Monica Lewinski's visits. (Not sure if that's how her name is spelled, but you get the idea)

Actually, he was not the original head of the SLC Games. He was brought in after they discovered the corruption, and when the games were running over budget. He wasn't involved with the original problems; he was brought in to fix them.

Moderates don't survive the primary system.

After all of the acrimony these past years, maybe that will change. (He hopes against hope)

Kevin 01-09-2007 12:32 PM

The problem is that moderates don't even get involved until the general election.

Extremists are at least politically motivated.
