What was YOUR most beautiful CL experience?

In the name of (whisper) Coleman Love http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif, and in an effort to show the world that the bond is still tight, I want to know what your best example (from your personal experiences) of Coleman Love is.

I have MANY stories I could share, one of which involves a phenomenal Omega Man to whom I could never say "Thank You" enough; however, I'll keep that fairtytale to myself. I just hope he knows who he is http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif.

Anyway, one incident that stands out took place in September '97 at the annual OSU fall icebreaker sponsored by the sorors of Epsilon chapter. It was my first fall ice breaker as a Delta, so I was more than geeked! Well, as usual, there was a HUGE crowd of folks lined up outside waiting to get in. Of course, being a Delta and all, my spec and I just moseyed on to the front of the line and skipped "errybody" http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif to greet our sorors and frat. After a while, things got a little rowdy outside. People were pushing and shoving to get inside, and things got so out of hand that the sorors had to go outside and link up to keep people from rushing the door. Of course, we let sorors and frat "break the chain" to get in, but that was it. Apparently folks got ticked about that, and the pushing and shoving got worse and worse. People were getting squished against the door or the wall, and a few folks got knocked down and stepped on http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif. Helicoptors were flying all over the place and the police came through to "tame" the crowd, but to no avail. Next thing we know, the police started macing the crowd. My sorors and I didn't know it at first. All I remember was a few Iota Psi bruhs grabbing sorors (nobody else-- JUST sorors) and pushing us inside so that we wouldn't get maced or trampled. It was scary at first, but none of us (to my knowledge) were hurt. It was just so beautiful to see the bruhs so protective of their sisters in greekdom.

We ended up having to stop the party and kick everyone out. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif The bruhs helped us do that, too ('cuz kickin' black folks out of a party ain't easy).

Thanks Omega Men for always being there when we need you the most!

OOP-ROO!

And I'm Out!

I was at that party but got there early enough that I was inside before all of the madness started. I do remember that party. There was a lot of tension and a lot of people trying to get in to the IceBreaker. I used to date an Iota Psi Que as well.

ok here's my story...
right after i crossed march 26, 1997, we went to our first regional conference in nashville, tn. my ls's and sands went to the bruhs' groove at some hole in the wall joint. we kicked it until the wee hours of the morning and then went to our cars to go back to the hotel and lo and behold i had a flat tire on my jeep. i went back in the party and found a bruh who went and found some more bruhs to help change my tire. they all came back to the parking lot and began to change the tire. the asked me for my jack and it was jacked up! in short, they had to change the tire with no jack. these big strong bruhs picked my truck up and took the tire off and out the spare on. we got done at like 4am and took pictures and bonded. i told them who our bruhs were at home and of course they knew each other, so we talked about the mutual friends we had they even offered to put us up for the night. it was the nicest thing complete strangers had every done for me. the only reason they helped me is because i am a delta. they were headed to the after set but waited until i was straight before they left. from them on, i knew to expect the love when i met bruhs! **sigh**
isn't that sweet?

that is really beautiful. i know it meant a lot to you because he was your fraternity brother (if that's right), but i just think it's wonderful that some brothas would do that for a sista with no ulterior motives, other than treating you nice.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes. http://www.plauder-smilies.de/tiere/ride.gif

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind http://www.plauder-smilies.de/nut.gif

Lol @ Sorors CT4 and 411. I, too was at that party hosted by the Elegant Epsilon Chapter. However, I was a PROSPECT at the time. (Lord, I love being a Delta!) I remember being salty thatthe party ended early. I was a freshman at the time, and was absolutely enamored with Epsilon...as I still am today! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Ok! I have a CL story.
This actually involves my Sands, 1st Lady. Over Memorial Day weekend, she was stranded in Downtown Chicago at night. (She went to K.A.O.S...and I guess afterwards, she was supposed to leave with her boyfriend's cousin...well, he left her.) She ended up being taken home by some bruhs (She lived almost an hour away from the city). When she thanked them, they were like, "Anything for a Soror!"

I have so many!
Well my first taste of Coleman Luv was witht he Bruhs from Rho Zeta in Jersey.I will always be grateful for their knowledge and guidance throughout and after my process.
Another is when I was pregnant, I was at a greek day at a beach in NJ and I just found out i was pregnant. A bruh asked me if I was stepping I told him no because I was pregnant, he became very protective of me and guarded my stomach because he didn't want to have to hurt someone that bumped into my stomach. Darn so many and so little time!!!!!

DoggyStyle82 06-08-2001 02:25 PM

For a Bruh like me, it is really hard to say. I have met so many Deltas and have had such great experiences with the majority of them, who can narrow it down. I have even had great experiences before I even went to college.

A recent one would be when I was trying to reactivate the undergrad chapter at SUNY Old Westbury in NY. There had been no undergrad Bruhs for 5 years. When the chapter finally got re-activated and we took over a solo-dog, the Sorors from a school nearly an hour away (where there have never been any bruhs) came out to celebrate with us. I thought that it was special because they were actually seeking out the bond and their support meant alot. They came uninvited also.

Individually, there are some Deltas, and one in particular, who drive me to greater heights of Manhood and who help me to live up to our motto of Friendship being truly Essential to The Soul. I'd like to thank you all for being truly phenomenal women. Two wet , nasty tongue wags for all of Ednas chillun'

I have always had favorable experiences with the Deltas but what stands out most is we(The Bruhs and Sorors)were busy getting our chapters active again on the yard and when our Neos came out it was amazing to see the Ol' school Deltas who were there on a sunday night about 10:00p.m. on the yard to welcome the Neos into the fold. I knew the younger Deltas were going to be there but what totally amazed me was the turnout and support from the older more experienced Deltas. Whew' that blew my mind and right then and there I knew there was mad love between two organizations. Of course we returned the favor when the Sorors probated on the yard and it felt good to come onto the plot and see the two organizations co-existing as if we had never missed a beat. Watch out Bowie State cause we taking the yard back......not that we ever lost the yard!

Funny you should have this post. One of my dearest friends refered me to this website and she happens to be a Delta. In my 16 years in the frat I've had many WONDERFUL experiences with the DST. But a few stand out and here they are:

When I was in College A major radio station had a party at my school. At the time I was the only bruh on my yard, and I was the President of the Black Student Union. During the party there was a BIG fight. I tried to stop it and got jumped. I mean I was getting a serious "beatdown" I'm a big man (And I was a bigger man back then) and there must have been about 7 guys wailin away at me. All of the sudden One guy got hit over the head which help me to get free and take out about three of the other ones.......And Guest who hit that guy over the head.....A SOROR. Another soror came up at that point and jumped on the back of one of the other guys I then "stole" that guy in the stomach. By then The police came. To this day I would give my left leg for these ladies.

I got my car towed in Atlanta once. I found out where they took my car but I had no way of getting there I didnt know the area so I'm sittin right there on the cirb where my car once was parked when a young lady comes up to me and ask me where I pledged....I told her...and she let me know that she was a Delta....So after we got our introductions out of the way I started telling her my delimma........Not only did girlfriend give me a ride to the place where they had my car...She knew the person in charge of the place and I got my car back FREE yall....You hear me? FREE. She then showed me around town and took me to dinner. We are friends to this day.

I've had sorors walk past me with out even a "hello" but when that happends I think of the friendships I have formed over the years with some of the most caring deltas you could ever meet......Like the one that refered me to this website

I am glad that you have such positive experiences w/ my Sorors. Nice to see you in the GC House. Don't be a stranger in the DST room, either! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
