Going alone vs. going with other people

Shopping
To restaurants
To the show
To games
To church
To whatever...I guess any other public place, lol.

Do you like doing things alone or with other people? Does it depend on which activity it is?

I hate going shopping with other people. Most people take too long to shop. I know people who spend up to an hour in one store.

I don't like to eat alone. I don't like to go to games alone either.

As for movies, it depends on the type. I like to go to comedies and horror movies with other people, but I'd rather watch dramas and suspenses alone.

Church...I don't care one way or the other.

I have no reservations whatsoever about going to places alone.

Of course, it is much better to go with GOOD company. But I have no shame/fear/anger about going alone.

For shopping, if I have specific things I need or want to get, then I prefer to go alone. Otherwise, I feel obligated to not take too long in the stores my friends don't really like and to go into stores that I don't like but they like. For window shopping, I like to go with other people. I hate dining out by myself and I hate going to the movies by myself. I prefer going to the gym by myself for similar reasons to shopping. I don't like feeling obligated to work out on the equipment my friends like and to spend less time on the equipment I like that they might not like as much. Other than shopping and working out, I think I pretty much everything else I prefer to go with other people.

I'm indifferent about going places alone. While traveling for work I tend to eat by myself so I don't even think twice about it now.

And I actually hate shopping with others because I feel like it takes me twice as long to get in & get out.

Depends on the place, but I don't mind going places alone. The only place where I'd rather not go alone is a bar.

With 2 kids, I'm all about anytime I can get some alone time - with the exception of restaurants. I'd rather take the kids and go to a family restaurant than eat alone at a nice restaurant.

I prefer shopping alone... I either end up feeling hurried or get annoyed waiting for someone else.

I HATE going to restaurants alone, more because of the shitty service i'm more likely to receive as a solo diner. Or I'll get looks of sympathy from the hostess or wait stuff- c'mon people, it's not uncommon to travel alone for business!

I've been to the movies alone when I was having some car work done one day- the dealer had a shuttle to the mall. It was great, a nice way to kill some time.

I prefer shopping alone. I don't really like shopping to begin with, so I hate having to go into to stores with my friends that I don't like or can't shop in anyway.

I've been to the movies alone, and don't mind doing it, but I prefer company.

I eat alone every day, but I would also prefer company. I work in an office of 5 people (2 lawyers and 3 clerks). The lawyers are husband and wife so they lunch together. However, the 3 of us have to eat lunch alone as someone as to be in the office at all times to man the phones.

So you're officially Connery Bond?

I prefer to go with a small group or my boyfriend, and something like the movies I probably won't do alone, but I don't care about eating alone. I usually just bring a book with me and look like a huge nerd :D

i'm an only child so i PREFER to do most "serious" things alone.
church - fellowship is important but please don't be taking my attention away from the matter at hand... my friends and i NEED to be seperated at church, like we're giggling 12-year olds. lol
shopping - i shop like a man, in and out; i know my size so i'll try it on at home. my bf shops like a girl, comparing colors, trying on 3 of the same damn shirt, etc. no one is ever happy at the end of a shopping trip, so we don't go together unless ABSOLUTELY necessary.
movies - i want to see what i want to see.

Other stuff doesn't matter: eating out, club or lounge/bar, sporting events, etc. i'm pretty flexible. i can do it alone or in a SMALL group. more than 5 people give me a headache.

I think the only thing i won't do alone is amusement parks. you need someone to help carry your crap or hold your space in line!

cutie_cat_4ever 12-29-2006 12:40 PM

I prefer shopping alone, just because my friends and I have different clothing taste and I just hate to wait. With only the exception of shopping with my bf becuase i like watching what clothes he buys and he likes watching what I pick, and there's no rush in anything.

Dining-wise, I prefer to be with friends, but if I'm at work and in a hurry, i eat alone. It takes at least 3 times longer for me to finish food with friends because I talk too much :p

I prefer to shop alone or just with my husband b/c I hate shopping as does he so we're really quick about it. We know what we're going to buy, go in, buy it, and leave. If I shop with friends or family, they tend to drag out the experience.

I don't normally like eating alone but I've done it before and it's not that big a deal.

I've only gone to a few movies alone just b/c there is usually someone around that's willing to go with me.

I am right there with you! I want to get in and get out of the damn store. I know what I'm looking for and don't need somebody holding me up. I like shopping ALONE. The Giant Eagle grocery store by my apartment is open 24 hours so I like to go shopping after I get out of work which is usually between 1am or 2am. The only people that I have to deal with in the store are the people that are stocking shelves and the one lonely cashier.

Church...I don't care one way or the other.

Church: Haven't attended services in a long while. I hope to get back in it soon.
Shopping: I only go mostly to buy CD's and some clothes.
Movies: I go By Myself
Concerts: I go by myself
Sporting Events: I go by myself.
Bars / Restaurants: unless some of my people is hanging out at the usual spot, I go solo.

I go to the bar alone all of the time (usually after work on my way home), but then again it is the bar I used to work at -- so I know all the bartenders and servers, and there's always a set of regulars there, so it's not as if I'd be drinking alone. :)
