The Alpha's and the AKA's are boycotting this film. Have you heard anything about this?

Yeah I heard about it, I guess the Alpha's and AKA's feel that the movie is going to portray fraternities/sororities in a negative light. Or that people will walk away from the movie thinking all we do is step

I saw the preview and this looks like a corny drumline movie. I dont see any reason at all to go and see this movie.

So that is the main "issue" that's the basis for the controversy?

ModeOne, someone else may jump in here but I think the main issue was that Sony was using Alpha's letters without permission. (Not sure if that was resolved or not, I don't recall) This, topped with the portrayal of the fraternities as wanting men only (or primarily) for their stepping abilities seems to be the major issue.

Drolefille is 100% correct, Sony dis something illegal and the Alphas and AKA's want nothing to do with it so they asked to be removed from the movie. even though some alpha men were in the movie there were no letters shown of these two orgs
