Hooray for Snow Days!

Well, I guess my second grade class's snow dance yesterday worked! I absolutely love getting that call at 4:00 a.m. telling me I don't have to get out of bed until I want too! Hooray for snow days!:D

My kids were thrilled to have another snow day this week.
Tuesday it was 70 degrees and Wednesday we had an ice storm- last night a snow storm-- I have 10-12" at my house. 30 miles south of me has 18"!!

I want a snow day! It's 81 degrees here today. NOT proper December weather!

Too bad most of us don't get snow days. I'd love one.

No snow here yet...we were supposed to have freezing fog...whatever the hell that is!

The bad thing about Snow Days is that we have to make them up. At least here in Texas. The private schools in the Dallas/Fort Worth area closed yesterday, but none of the public schools. We only got a little ice and a little snow. The districts north of us got a lot and had to close down.

From one teacher to another I hope you enjoyed your day!!!!! We get 5 calamity days here in Ohio which means as long as we don't have over 5 snow days (or heat, wind, etc.) we don't have to make them up!:D

Thursday my job let us all out at 2 because we had a light dusting of snow....

heh

I bet the guys in our NJ office think we're a bunch of wussies!

In our defense though, there was a lot of ice on the overpasses :p

Hey, it's snowing outside! Really coming down!

I'm leaving for work in about ten minutes.

Yeah...I miss snow days. But the nice part is that at my university, we actually have an area called The Tundra...for a reason. When it snows here, it SNOWS and blows everywhere. There was one time last year that they cancelled everyone's 8am and 9am classes, and had classes start at 10am instead, because the roads were so bad that even the few professors who live in the village couldn't get to campus. We were all quite pleased.

Haha, that means you would have to teach us how to do the snow dance :D

We had a deadline in our company, so we had to stay :(

(not to mention we live in the same area :D)

Yep. My company puts us up in a nearby hotel whenever the weather is threatening to make sure we all come in.

We all have learned.. It's always good to keep a change of clothes and a toothbrush packed in the trunk of your car during the winter.

You are absolutely right about having to make up snow days. However, this year our last day of school is very early, so I don't mind making up a day at the end of the year to make up for the pure joy of a snow day:D

We ended up getting just over 12 inches of snow in the town where I teach, so I am very grateful that I didn't have to clean off my car or drive through that mess on Friday.

I ended up spending much of my day baking; I think I ended up making about twenty dozen Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies. Anyway, my husband (and city snow plow driver) are grateful that I had the snow day as well!
